I really like my Delica but Im a liner lock /G-10 guy and the Digi-Camo Para is calling to me. Is it as good a slicer as the Delica?

Ha, it blows the delica right out of the water when it comes to slicing :D

You're gonna get pummeled with rocks for that one :p

The para is a much more "substantial" knife than the Delica. I think it cuts just as good or better than the Delica and would easily be my choice if I had to choose between them. The only down side is that if I remember right, my Para is tip down only.

I have the Foliage Green G10 Delica. The blade grind is thin and it sharpens up to a hair splitting edge. Its VG-10

the para military is pretty much superior to the delica, and the compression lock is great. i prefer the caly3 though

Ah, then they should be about even, but I would still give the tossup to the para-military. Excellent grip, carries light, and performs like a big knife. I miss mine :(

I had the standard S30V black handle version for a short amount of time, but it really grew on me. The compression lock will be a tad different from what you are used to, but it flicks closed with a little practice.

So its not a liner lock?

Oh no, it's even better  It's similar in action, it's just placed on top of the knife instead of where your index finger goes. By some ways of mathematics and Spyderco's awsomeness, this makes it a VERY strong lock.

Typically I've heard of people pinching the lock with their index finger and sort of using gravity to flick it closed. It takes a try or two, but it's fun once you get used to it.

I hope that helps, J.

I just looked at some Youtube footage. As long as the blade swings free enough to do one hand open and close Im cool with it.

I have a D2 para as well as several different versions of the D4 delica. The delica has a better handle to blade length ratio than the para but the extra hand on the para really fills the hand nicely and feels very secure. I like the para a lot, but the lock took some time to get used to, but now that I know how to operate the lock its very smooth and very comfortable to use. There is no way of doing it left handed, so if that is a concern. The only other gripe that I have about the para is that it is tip down carry only unless you have some one like STR do a custom job on it.

The Delica is a child's toy compared to the Para Military. :D Para > all

Welcome to the forums, Para Power!

So let me get this right - you like the Para-Military? :p

I am just messing with ya. I have 4 Para-Millies myself. ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome. :)

Honestly I don't think I've ever seen a knife that I didn't like. I just like some more than others.

I do want to make sure the OP understands that the Para is no ordinary cutting tool. It is a precision instrument designed by and for professionals so he needs to understand this before taking on the responsibility of owning one.

The biggest difference between the two is the blade geometry. The Para is a Full Flat Grind and the Delica is a Flat Saber Ground. The Para is a "Slicer" and the Delica has a thicker "Utility" blade.
For around $30.00 send it to STR to get a deep carry/tip up.

G10 Delica has 2.5 mm thick blade and Para has 4mm. This Delica must slice better due to the blade geometry.

+1 Caly3 is the best (3mm thick FFG blade, low riding wire clip, finger choil), Native4 is not bad either.

I think it's one of the easiest knives to open/close one-handed. Easier than frame/linerlock for sure. When you disengage the lock with your index finger, none of your fingers are in the blade's path when it closes.

I have several Paras and several Delicas. IMAO, the Para wins every category except weight/size. It's a tad heavier and thicker than the D4 FRN, but it is a much better slicer, it's easier for me to sharpen and maintain, and I really prefer TD carry. It rides very well IWB and pretty good in your pocket, too.

And you can get it in D2 which I really like.

A little smaller than the Military, it's handier and if anything stronger due to it's superior lock. It's a great size to clip in your pocket and gives up very little compared to many bigger heavier knives.
