i would like to know if, the gremlin, thats been plagueing the s30v steel, in some quarters of the industry, has been removed by camillus.
i'm drooling to buy a dominator tanto,#cmc2467 p.e., but i'm hesitant to pull the trigger. i want a new edc, but the recient questions have brought about a few of my own...how are the edges holding up in the real world?
i'd like to hear from someone who has sharpened one to a 15/15 V or more radical.
how's camillus customer service handle it when a patron says the blade steel just ain't right? ( i'm not saying that is the case!!) i do not wish to be disrespectful in any way.
if i'm gonna shellout $, for top of the line steel, i'm gonna want it to perform as advertised! some companies say they got it figured out and some customers say they don't.
should i just go with BG-42. i have AST-34, that could hold a better edge. i USE my knives daily.
thanks for the help!!!

i have a dominator at camillus right now because the blade was way off center-they are slow to respond to emails though-but are fixing the problem without hesitation-

my dominator is the only s30v blade i have that hasnt chipped-the s30v from my benchmade and bradley pieces has chipped-

i use a 20degree edge

thank you ! it's a help to get some real world info. did you have it long enough to have an opinion on how it keeps an edge? good to know it didn't
chip!

edc it for a few months before i just couldnt stand the off center of the blade-
best s30v blade ive had-

thanks again! which blade design do you have? i just reciently read some bad reviews on the tanto design, in general. iguess i'll keep searching the forums for a discussion.

..back under new screen name after long absence...

I purchased my dominator as soon as they were available. The S30V has held up beautifully. EDC for 2 some odd years now (and it has seen moderate use), the blade is in great shape. No chipping, no visible scratches (which may be due to the tumbled finish). And it is one of the most aggressive cutting steels I've come across, holds its edge well, and is easy to sharpen. This knife pretty much sold me on S30V, but I hadn't been aware of other manufacturers having problems with it.
