How long is limit of neck knife do you think?
Now I plan making a sheath for 6" blade skelton (rapped with rope) knife for neck or armpit carry.
Is it good you think? And anyone has such a large neck knife?

Sounds to me like that would be a little long and a little too heavy, which would make it really annoying. My guess would be that if you made one that big, you wouldn't wear it much. Of course, I am not a tall guy, but maybe if you were in the 6'5" range the length might not bother you. I still think that the cord would have to be pretty tight around the neck to make a blade that size a possibility, which would be uncomfortable. My personal opinion (of course others may vary), stick to around a 3" blade.

How big is your neck? I used to ride with guys who wore a desktop 'paper-cutter' for a neck knife. These were big guys. I was riding next to guy one night who almost slid into me because he was 'slapping mosquitos.' I pulled a .44 calibre linotype slug out of his neck--and that's the last time we rode during deer season. Of course, mosquitos are big here in Wisconsin. (How big are they?) Glad you asked. We had one mosquito land here at Truax airport, and they put over 500 gallons of aircraft fuel into it before they recognized what it was...--OKG

OKG, you got off easy. Jersey mosquitos touch down, take the tanks, and fly off with them. They won't let us take them back until they're empty.

Chicahiro, I think the Scots' sgian dubh was originally an armpit knife, and was probably about the size you are talking about. It won't work too well around your neck for concealment, but as a utility hanger, why not?

Hi Chicahiro,
I wear this one as a Neckknife, and I am very satisfied with it. It's a Large Pesh Kabz from Bud Nealy in M2. With a 5" blade its thin, not too heavy but I would probably not wear a heavier knife.

Some Knife's

For me personally 8" overall is about the longest I would consider wearing as a neck knife. That would have a lot to do also, with the weight of the knife. Other determining factors would be if the handle was contoured, or had sharp corners. Also, sharp corners on the sheath would make me not want carry a larger knife, as a neck knife.

Maybe I'm just a big whining pansy, but every neck knife I've tried, regardless of size, seems to be too heavy to be really comfortable -- even small ones like the Cold Steel neck knives. So I guess I'd have to say any length is too long, until I find one light enough to suit me...
