Given they're made out of a softer wood I would not expect them to last forever, but i don't know how long

Some photos of the one i just finished. Knife by me too

Nice work on both. What kind of woods?

Your question is going to be tough to answer, without knowing something about those who will use it. If it were mine, it would last my lifetime, as I am quite careful with my tools. Others, not so much.

So similar to a knife handle really

Handle is lace sheoak, saya is spalted willow, pin is lace sheoak again. It's hard to find the traditional saya/sheath woods here in Australia, and willow is similar and a weed. Blade is 80crv2

Thank you for the wood lesson, as I hadn't encountered sheoak before,.
Given how well you've done with the materials at hand, I wouldn't worry too much about traditional.

sheoak, also casurina, is an group of Australian hardwoods. they introduced them into Florida where they're now a weed if you're looking for some

Those are beautiful Alex.

That Saya could easily out live us, not exposed to weather or water. I would treat it with something though, even just a wax if you haven't already.
