How long did your rotation go?

Over the last few years I have done my best to get a set list of daily carry gear. The Victorinox Farmer has always been a constant , I tried several fixed blades finally settling on the Ontario RAT 3 and carried it for a few years and recently upgraded to a RAT Cutlery RC 3. I never really rotated my light it has always been some kind of surefire and they were all carried for over a year. Currently it is a L1. Multitool wise I only own 2 I have settled on the Leatherman Charge TTi because of the pocket clip. I still keep the SOG powerlock for heavy work because it is more comfortable for extended use. The folder has been the beast to find. In the last 3 months I have not carried the same folder 2 days in a row. I finally did some research and settled on the Blade-Tech RIJBAK as my go to folder. It arrived today and I am extremely impressed. Instant connection with the knife. Watch the trade forums gentlemen I am cleaning out my knife drawer. Total time on search 10 years. How about you guys how long did it take to find that folder?

First of all let me say that you got a very fine knife in the Rijbak. I also have one and I really like it. If I understand your question correctly I have gone as long as 6 weeks before rotating to another folder. On average though it is about 2 weeks, then switch.

It's been two months with the Para Military. I want to see if this knife will be the ONE. I went two years with my first Endura.

I switched through a RC3 with a very small SAK to a MOD CQD 1 and SOG Trident for full mall ninja feel. I have now ended up with the Trident and a SAK for my EDC. Luckily I know most of the cops on campus and the new police chief so if I do get caught they just give me a stern warning.

so far, I have been carrying the ZT 0200 for about 9 months. It took a few years to finally find a really good knife and this is it. I also recently got a BM Grip, but the ZT is still primary right front pocket. I occasionally throw in the ZT 0121 for carry, but not as often!

I have carried this little guy for about two years now (Midnight Manager 2)

and....I think I made it a year with a Mini Manix

I have 47 folders. About 10 of them make it into the rotation. My Delica4 PE is my edc about 80% of the time.
Others in the rotation are mostly sub 3" folder:
Boker Trance
Salt 1 Se
Grip 555
HK 14210
Leek s30v G10
Small classic Sebenza
Native PE
Manix 83mm SE
BM 710
Blur s30v

About 1 year with a 551 Griptilian......... Thats the longest.. And i don't have a rotation. I have one that i go to and the rest i don't... Then again some consider changing every few months as rotation, so maybe i do..??!
Thanks
Matt B.

I don't know - do you ever find that "perfect" folder? I think that is why all of us are here....we love knives too much to just stop at one!!!!

I do not have any set period of time that I change knives. When the mood strikes, I put another one of my knives in my pocket.I have been carrying my gray XM-18 since it arrived. I have also been carrying my Fireant since it has arrived; and it has been in my pocket for months. I have been carrying a Mc Gizmo light daily for months now.

After finding the perfect folder I think I need to focus on full sized fixed blades. The next knife I buy will be a backup RIJBAK when the pharmacy has them back in stock. I couldn't have designed a folder to meet my needs any better. I looked hard at a Sebenza but I really prefer tip down, and a hole is easier for me to find in a hurry.

I have carried the Vic Explorer every day that I was dressed for 35 years SO FAR. Guess I picked the right one the first time.:D I also carry the Kershaw Blackout and have for three years. I also carry a small Case two blade slip joint every day. I have many dozen other folders waiting for their turn:thumbup:

The knife that stayed in my pocket the longest was a full size Manix but I've got so many nice knives it seemed a shame not to carry them all occasionally.

After 20 plus years of carrying pocketknives and probably hundreds of EDC's rotated out, i feel i've finally come home with the Vic Farmer. It has everything i need for work and play, doesn't freak out people who see it, and is plane bulletproof. It hasn't moved out of my front pocket for 6 months (a record). I bought another just in case i lose that one.
There are lots of very cool single blade folders that I really admire, but i've always felt it's rather limiting to just have a single blade tool. so many tasks involve more than just cutting stuff.

One of these was an EDC for many years - mainly that SAK, which got replacement scales by Vic in a rebuild. My original Buck 110 is long gone, that's a 'recent replacement'.

My more recent EDCs. The Kershaws were 'it' for four years, replaced by the Spydie Native last summer. I don't care for the Leek so much - but that's my 'dress-up' EDC. I have also been carrying a Bark River Huntsman fb in a KSF pocket sheath for over a month now.

When I get a new folder, like the pre-Christmas arrival of my Buck #419 folding Kalinga Pro (S30V), it 'rides' for a few days - I am a knife-slut these days... somewhat fickle. Life WAS simpler with the one SAK...

Have finally set upon a combo and not really looking anymore.

Benchmade 520/525(plain edge on both) depending on the mood---the 520 sees more pocket time--self defence/hard use/locking sticker and anything the other 2 can't handle knife. One or the other---but never both at the same time.

Case CV Trapper--yellow handle--food cuttin knife

Vic Farmer--red alox---all round utility knife--the screwdriver and saw see the most use.

A Mini-grip tanto(plain edge) sneaks in from time to time---just giving the tanto style blade a try for myself---despite all the nay-sayers out there---I kinda like it.

Carried an all steel combo edge Endura for years---but was always looking for something better.

After two and a half days of constant carry I could not be happier with the RIJBAK. It came extremely sharp but I touched it up a little bit anyway, I always do. This really is the perfect large EDC knife. I do not get this excited very often. This thing is a tank like my Manix and does not weigh near what the Manix does. The Blade Tech website says they may have a carbon fiber scale version also. I will be picking up one of those when they are out.
