How long do I have?

Hello all, been poking around (no pun intended) here for a while, and finally decided to join in and register. I've been looking at a couple GEC knives for a little while now, and I'm wondering, how long is it wise to sleep on it? How quick do most patterns get sold out? I would like to wait to buy myself a new knife until after out big family vacation in a week or two, but I'm afraid that when I get back all the good patterns/scales will be gone. In your experience, how long can one afford to wait on GEC knives?

Times up! ...they're gone! :p

...just teasing.

There's really no way to give a definite answer. If it's an older run, the number currently available may give some indication. If there's only one, you might want to grab it. If there are lots of them available, I doubt one to two weeks will be a problem. If it's stag or ivory or a small run, I'd recommend buying one that you like as soon as you see it because nice examples get snapped up as soon as dealers post them and may be preordered in some cases.

Welcome!

I think Jake gave a pretty wise answer.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, I'm glad the community is so open to new members and their newbie questions. So I originally found 7 of the knives I wanted for sale, and one just sold yesterday, leaving 6. Its one of the July patterns. (sorry to not name the pattern, bu I'm worried about selling out as it is, no need to get a bunch more knife nuts interested!;)) I just hope that at least one will stick around long enough for me not to have to worry about it sitting in my mailbox for a week over vacation...
