How long do you wait?

Hey all,

I've bought and sold plenty of knives here and on other forums and payment is usually done quickly.
I'm in some new territory here because I posted a knife for sale, someone said they would take it, and nearly 2 days later I have yet to receive payment. I've contacted the buyer through PM and email since they said they would take it and have received no reply.

How long should I wait before taking the 'SPF' off and listing the knife for sale again?

Here's the thread. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1162299-Walter-Brend-M2-Auto

Thanks for any help

You may be exaggerating just a little. :) He said he would take it yesterday morning. And you said you later that you would shoot him an email yesterday after work (presumably with payment instructions), so that's only been 24 hours maybe? Good form is to pay immediately, but people go to work or school and sometimes payment isn't instantaneous. I'd say to give him at least 48 - 72 hours after you gave him your Paypal address before offering it back up for sale. Hang in there.

I guess what got me frustrated was seeing the user online several times with no reply to an email or a PM

After giving your payment info, 24-36hrs is sufficient enough to wake up, shower, eat and make payment. Anything more is just courtesy.

I've had sellers get irate at me at less than 24 hours-
in that instance I had posted late at night that I would take it, then I went to bed. I got up the next morning and went to work, and had such a day of meetings and interruptions that I had no opportunity to get on the internet and send payment. When work finally let me go I went home, had dinner, then had problems with my home internet. I finally was able to send payment after about 22 hours. During this 22 hours I did have a contact via quick phone email that I still would take the knife so it wasn't like there was no response at all. Since things can happen to a guy, I think 24 hours or a little more is certainly a reasonable allowance. Beyond 36 hours with no contact from the buyer and the seller can put it back up for sale if he wishes, or he can wait longer, depends on the seller.
