How long does it usually take to get a K20 after placing a reservation?

spent a whole day browsing through photos of the K20 on the forum, and the more I looked, the more I fell in love with it. The last long blade I was this passionate about was the FR28 — that day I added over ten sellers on my contact list just to finally get one.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the K20, there’s no new stock available in my country anymore. Some sellers told me that even if I pre-order now, I’d have to wait about two years. They even suggested I not bother reserving it at all, especially considering the price — around 25,000 RMB, which is roughly 4 to 5 months of income for an average person in many major Chinese cities. Hahaha...

I really love the K20 and I’m willing to pay for it, but I’m honestly torn about whether I should wait that long.

i def could be wrong but 1-2 yrs i think im sure someone has a better answer but thought i could help a bit

This was in the pre order

"I intend to start shipping these within about a year, but some sword projects take much longer so come into this with your eyes wide open. I'm making no hard promises on a delivery time other than you can request a refund of your "non-refundable" deposit if I haven't shipped these after two years. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Projects like this that are pushing the outer boundaries of our process and capabilities are experimental in nature and surprises sometimes do happen."

Hope this helps

I’m not very savvy with this sort of thing, but is there an ap that would allow me to translate? Thank you. Mike

It's worth noting that the pre-order for these is long since closed meaning that you do not have the option to order one. So waiting 1-2 years for Nathan/CPK to make them is not a factor here you need to consider. Your only chance to get one is on the secondary market.

Edit : I forgot, some will be sold in upcoming regular bi-weekly sales but we do not know when that will be. So you might be able to get one at some future date without the long wait after you place your order.

Edit 2 : *UNLESS* you're a new international customer, then you're stuck with the secondary market being your only option as CPK has stopped sales to new international customers.

I think it's fair to say that you are not going to be able to order one directly from CPK for several reasons........

1. The pre-order is closed and I doubt Nathan will re-open it in the foreseeable future.

2. CPK are no longer shipping to new International customers.

Your only choice is to find one here on Bladeforums, or in the aftermarket.

I don't know who you have been talking to in China to get you one but I feel confident in saying that none of them have been authorised as re-sellers by CPK. They are simply flipping the product at a huge profit.

Insofar as the wait is concerned if that is a problem for you then CPK is not the product you should be looking at.

As for the price either you pay it or you won't get one. No-one here cares what the average monthly salary in the PRC is.

The pre-order is closed, I'm sorry.

Due to a large amount of issues we have had with foreign customers, we are, unfortunately, no longer able to ship to new customers overseas. I apologize for the inconvenience.

A complex project like the K20 requires temporary modifications to some of our machinery so it takes a while to actually complete the production run because it means other stuff can't run at the same time. Also, due to the size, it is only able to be decked on our largest grinder. The blade is so long I cannot even turn or home the B-axis on our horizontal and I have to be very careful about how we do a pallet change or even a tool change because it is possible to crash the machine with the sword or a fixture. We have to run it with the door open! We keep coolant in while running the swords with a shower curtain, lol. So, while it normally takes about a year for a normal knife, I am finding it takes longer to produce swords due to logistical bottlenecks in our process.

Hello, I'd like to ask what surface treatment the knife has — is it stonewashed or coated?"
