Howdy all,
I just put a coating of itc-100 on my inswool lined forge and was wondering how long this stuff would take to dry before I could fire it up? Also, is there any kind of procedure for firing it up for the first time after applying the coating?

TIA

Matt

Hi,
I just did a freon forge with ITC-100.
Drying time depends on how much water you sprayed on the inswool before coating.
I let mine dry a day in the hot sun then fired it up on low for a few minutes. Then I killed it and let cool. Then refired, ran 5 minutes on low, killed it. Left it for the night. Patched a few cracks with leftover ITC.
Next day 5 minutes on low, cranked up to high for 5 minutes and killed and let cool. Then fired up for a normal run and I no longer worry about it. No problems. Be advised that forge welding in a horizontal inswool forge is not advised as flux loves to eat it.
Dry, ITC turns a chalky bluish gray color.

Enjoy, Ken
