How long has the Case 3318 been around?

I read somewhere that delrin was in use by Case from '67. I'm really curious which models used yellow delrin from the start, perhaps the 3318? It is really one of my favorite scale materials.

Regards Erik

Case's first use of actual 'Delrin' (by DuPont) came with the release of the 2138 Sod Buster (black) in 1967. Not sure when they started to use it for other patterns, or in other colors, in the time following that.

DuPont's Delrin wasn't available in full production capacity until 1960, upon it's official invention. So, any synthetics prior would've been in what they termed 'composition', be it celluloid or whatever other plastic/rubber compounds might've been available at the time.

I have a 1950-'64 Peanut (3220) in yellow 'composition' handle covers. Pretty sure it's not celluloid, at least, and I'm sure it's not Delrin - but I otherwise don't know exactly what 'composition' it was made from. In the hand, it feels very much like what we call 'Delrin' and is maybe a bit brighter & more vivid in color (maybe with some fading in portions) than what we're used to seeing in yellow Delrin these days.
