How long have you gone without?

I walked in to DFW airport 2:17pm Wednesday leaving my knife in the car, just now arrived home. All that time without.... How long have you gone with out a blade?

Glad you made it back home, man. Once or twice last year I actually forgot to clip something to my pocket (blasphemy, I know :p) as I went to work, so I would have to say a day or 2 tops. And that was hell for me, I wasn't comfortable at all. As silly as it sounds, I felt like part of me was missing. I had the same feeling the one time I forgot my wedding ring.

How did you handle it?

Last time I traveled I checked a bag with a knife so I could have one on the other end. If I was not going to check a bag, I had already planned to mail it ahead of time to be waiting for my arrival at a relatives house.

I just pack a BM rescue hook in my check-in baggage when I fly, I don't want to deal with any hassles carrying in places I am unfamiliar with.

I went almost a whole week, Sunday morning to Saturday morning, for a business trip. It was tough, and I actually needed a knife multiple times :(

You always need something when you don't have it. Isn't that the worst?

I just got back from a 5 day out of town trip. Send a Buck 110 in a dirty sock, inside my old shoes, figuring if the TSA or baggage carriers wanted it that bad i was going to make them work for it. Well, Buck 110 made it to and from no problem.

So total without my blade, 8 hours while on the plane and layovers.

Now, I wish that I had also put my Leatherman in another sock, as I noticed I missed the heck out of it.

I walked into IAH (Houston) airport on Monday at 8am and I'll arrive back at the airport at 5PM today. I normally check a knife in my back, but this time I needed the extra convenience.

Almost never - I prefer to go without airports (haven't flown since 1999, and probably won't ever again!). If I can't drive there, I don't need to go there. But that's just me....

I say "almost" because I do need to leave my blades (and my Glock) in my vehicle when I'm in court (I'm a lawyer), but that is usually only for a few hours or less. However, even in that short amount of time, I'm going through withdrawal by the time I get back to my vehicle!

I recently went two weeks without one. There was a constant feeling of something amiss the entire time.

Three years. I was a guest in the People's Republic of China from 2007 to 2010. Most of my knives were in storage during this time. Carried one at work occasionally but seldom carried outside of my apartment. Not worth the hassle.
