How long have you waited?

When next month starts I will have been on a waiting list for a XM-18 for 2 years. I blame a member of my family for showing theirs to me and starting this addiction to own a Hinderer, and nothing else on the market could fill the desire to own perfection. 2 years to wait for a knife is a long time, but it will make the moment when I finally get the knife in my hot little hand even better. I would like to hear from everyone else and their personal stories of waiting for that first Hinderer especially the XM-18.

One day I wrote Rick and asked him if he would sell me a knife.
He wrote me back and said he would.
Easy as that.

Maybe it helped that I am a volunteer firefighter. I didn't mention it anywhere in my letter though. Perhaps he has access to a firefighter database or something.

I just wish I would have written him several years ago.

The knife is worth the wait, hang in there.

It is just not the same, I want to get my hands of a virgin one and be the first person to open the box it comes in from the factory, spending the rest of my night just opening and closing the knife thinking of the perfect thing for the knifes first cut. I feel that their is nothing else is going to top getting a XM-18 in my knife collecting life.

Still trying to track down a 3inch non flipper...seems I am a little too slow whenever they come up for sale.

I think the 2 year wait was easier than waiting for the postman to deliver the XM-18 after you finally get your hands on one. Just to much excitement!

From deciding I wanted one to owning one, I waited about a week.

Paid about a hundred dollar premium for my impatience but compared to sitting on a list for a year or two, very worth it.
