Hello blade forum!

I was just wondering how long is typical for Chris Reeve knives to repair and send back your knife.
I sent them a Mnandi that I bought and the grind was slightly off for repair almost 2 months ago! They let me know they received it, and then I heard again about 3 weeks ago when they called me to ask me what inlay I had. They asked this because they mixed together some work orders and wanted to make sure they sent the correct knife to the correct customer. Nothing since.......
I am starting to get annoyed. I send in a custom dozier for repair at the same time, and Bob had the knife back to me in a week. Is this normal and I am overreacting?

Thanks!

Ernie

It can vary, but 2 months isn't out of the ordinary. They are a busy little shop!

Best bet is to call up and talk to Heather or Angela, ask either if she knows the status of your knife.
They will set you straight.

It depends on the work being done. If you just want the knife made pretty again the turn around is typically a couple of weeks. If there is something more technical going on like a reblade then you could wait closer to months, as you have. I realise the wait is always a killer but a couple of months really isn't that bad, I can't see it being much longer. :)

A phone call is always a good way to ease your anxiety. They've always been very cordial and helpful when I've called.

Update:
I received an email from heather at crk. She was very nice and helpful. I assured her that this does not change my opinion about their knives! I just can't wait to get it back......

To me, 2 months is not acceptable. CRK makes production knives at a premium price. Service should be at least on par with the other companies out there. I have had knives serviced by Benchmade, Kershaw, and Emerson. All have managed roughly a one week turnaround.

I have my small Sebenza out for service now. I was told 3 weeks to service it. Given all they have to fix is an off-center blade, that doesn't really wow me in terms of speed. I'll have to wait and see how my own service experience ends up.

Keep us posted on your experience, I will post about mine when I get my mnandi back

Got my small Sebenza back from CRK. From the day they said it arrived to the time they said it shipped was 3 weeks on the dot. Add couple more days shipping each way and you're at a month in my case. Not quite as long as you, but too long in my opinion.

Just good my small back for a centering issue. Took about 3 weeks. Showed up nice and centered. Had great communication during the process. Email when they got it and when they sent it back.

My experience was identical to yours, except for the part where they didn't center the blade. Any chance you could take a photo of the centering? I only ask as what people call centered tends to vary. Not that I don't believe you :D
