Has anyone sent a knife in to the spa lately? Just wondering how long it takes to a get a knife back from them with current work load? I have a small Seb31 that seems like it gets harder and harder to open every time I open the blade? I have tried taking it apart and adjusting and lubing it. I cant get it right. I guess I need to send it in and have them adjust it. I just hate being without it. If it takes like 6 months to get it back I am sure I would buy another one in that time and then the wife is going to be mad at me:)

Unless there anyone on here that likes to tinker on them and knows what they are doing and would want to see if they can adjust it for me?

Thanks
Andy

Right now its 8 weeks. I have a 21 thats been there 6 and I checked on it last week they told me they are running right at 8.

The 31 really shouldnt need any adjustments just cleaned and lubed. The bushing is a set it and forget it so it is what it is.

For reasons I don’t understand, when I reassemble after cleaning sometimes it’s harder to open. Sometimes it loosens up in a short break in period but sometimes I do the process over again. Recently I have not snugged the pivot down quite as tight and used it a bit, then do the final snug. This seems to work. Perhaps it helps the lube distribute evenly.

As long as you don’t see a deformed washer or any other issues, I’d mess with it more. You can have the knife for life, might as well get acquainted.

Good luck.

Well I loosened the pivot screw by about 1/16" and it made the world of difference. So smooth now. I guess I had tightened it just a hair too much!

If you are gonna run it that way, put a tiny bit of Loktite 222 (low strength) on the pivot screw. They get loose very easy if they are not hand-tight. Especially if you are fidgeting with 'em a lot.

To your question, I sent a NICA Tanto in two weeks ago for a lock bar adjustment and spa treatment and they returned it in less than a week. However, I did notice that it still has a tiny bit of lock stick and they did not re-blast the relevant parts. They did give me a new clip and lanyard without adding any charge. Great customer service.

Warranty work and Spa are two different queues. My New Zaan had a 12 day turn for warranty, my 21 is 7 weeks now on a spa.
