How Long Will It Last?

I got my first Sebenza last week. I like it a lot. Given how much I have been opening the knife, I have a question for those out there who have had one for a long time.

If I open it a number of times a day (no flicking, and I don't sit opening and closing), how long will it maintain a tight lockup? In other words, how long (years) before the lock bar wears enough that I will notice a difference? Is it long enough that I should not worry about it? What has your experience been? Assume that I will take reasonable care to keep it clean.

I not sure that anybody has actually worn one out when taken reasonable care of one.

I rarely hard-flick my EDC sebenza -- maybe once per month (it's usually someone else that's looking at it). I may average 4 openings per day on my EDC large regular sebenza -- many more on a weekend when I've got chores to do. I've been carrying it for 8 years, and the lock position has not changed. In 20 years, I suspect I'll be observing the same thing . . .

I just received my lg reg seb (1997) from CRK. It needed a new frame lock after almost 10 years of daily use. They had to replace the entire handle(both sides) because the new handles are slightly different. It was covered under warranty. It returned today looking beter than the day I bought it.
These people stand behind their products and also give world class service.
Don't be afraid to use your knife.

I've been using and abusing my Sebenzas for a number of years, but haven't experienced any noticeable wear on the lockbar. They probably will outlast me.

I'm sure it will get lost before you wear it out.

Never thought of it from that perspective.

How long will it take to wear it out?

When Hell Freezes Over is my guess! hehe

That has, unfortunately, been my experience, as I lost my old one last year. It was 5 years old, saw hundreds of opening cycles a day when I worked in a bookstore stockroom, and had no problems with lockup.

Thanks for the input - it sounds like there is nothing to worry about.

And I have not lost a knife since I was 8 or 9.
