That makes sense. I have a few AOs (couple of Kershaw Leeks among them), that I used to fiddle with in the same manner. Usually after a few repeated cycles, the action would slow down significantly; it'd get very mushy and sometimes wouldn't even fully open the blade. I'd put the knife down for a couple or three minutes, then try it again, and it would all-of-sudden seem normal again. Didn't take long to surmise that something in the action was heating up and then cooling off. 'Work hardening' in progress, I assume. Changed my mind about relentlessly opening/closing these knives. It didn't seem quite so fun anymore, once I knew I was likely shortening the life of the spring.
