On my last canoe trip I was bending over to get a leach in the never ending quest to shove walleye in my gut when, KAPLUUUMP! My little Sony Cyber Shot falls out of my front pocket and into the lake. Luckily the water was only five or six inches deep in the area it dropped, still can't be good, right.:(

It all went slow motion on me, this would be the second camera in two years that wouldn't make it through my antics :o and I could already hear my wife in the back of my head and she was . Anyway, I reach down and grab the camera trying not to turn it on in the lake, yeah that didn't work out so well because I was looking at the display screen and it was on as I took it out of the lake. I turned it off, yanked the battery and mem. stick, wrapped it in a shirt for a while and then left it in the sun for a day.

Two days later I get home put the battery and stick in and it seems to be working fine. So I'm thinking no harm no foul and I wasn't even going to tell Lisa about the whole deal. All was good until I plugged in the USB cord and took the pics off, actually got them all off no problem but when I was done the camera wouldn't take a pic.:grumpy: So I'm of mixed emotions at this time, happy I recovered the pics, not so happy that Lisa is salting the whip, what do ya do.

The good part.

A few minutes ago I was playing around with it and gave it a couple smacks on the end table and :foot:voila:D , the Sony is working like a gem.:D

Had to share it.

Now for that collection pic.

Lucky you.

I am constantly amused at the various spellings of 'voila' here on the forums. :p

That's super lucky! I had a similar experience with my phone...but had considerable more "soak time". I believe I was walking through a creek looking for crayfish when I found a deep spot (it was literally a two foot drop off) and just fell and got wet up to my neck. I had hip waiters on which filled with water and made pulling myself out quite difficult. I pulled the battery out as soon as I got out and a week later it finally got to working

Go figure, I had to charge the battery.

Collection pic will have to be Wensday.

Thanks folks

bmilla35, forget the phone man hip waders and drop offs can get you killed. Lotto ticket moment in my book. Glad it all worked out.

I don't think that they make them for the newer cybershots, but Sony made some killer model specific waterproof cases for some models. I have one for an older dsc-t1 that I got for $100 off of the internet, they were $200. I abuse that thing in the raft. All the controls for the camera work exactly the same through the case, it's great. Takes good underwater photos too! Only downside is if I lose the camera I will be stuck with a $100 case for nothing, unless I can find that exact camera somewhere on the net.

good news, i got a pentax thats good to 3 feet, small but takes geat pics. good to hear your cam survived!

I've been looking at the Pentax and the Olympus waterproof point-and-shoots too.

Man, that is lucky!

I had a Wendy's cup in my pull out cup holder and the sweat from it dripped onto my phone which was charging below on the floor of the vehicle. A few drops later and Mr. Motorola was toast!:grumpy:

I hit it a few times to see if that would help but I think the hammer I used was too big!!!!!

Congrats! Here's hopin' your luck continues!

Jerry :D

Jerry, ya sure that wasn't shine sweating out of that cup.:p

I hope that camera holds tough, because it's going back to the BW on Friday for a three day.

Seriously, I'll haft to check out one of the water proof models, only makes sense.:)

Thanks folks

I'm

See ya later

You know what I do when something like that happens? I dip into my emergency cash and go buy another one, just like the one I broke, and I throw out the old one in a gas station dumpster or something.

And then I never say a word.

This is why I have emergency cash in my gun safe.

My wife doesn't know how much I spend. Only how much I withdraw. It's always the same amount, and most of the time I don't really need quite that much, so the extra goes in the safe. This works for me, quite well. This actually doubles as my Busse fund, as well.

I have a Pentax WP that I took snorkeling, worked like a charm.

BTW can I send a Canon 550ex flash to you for you special smacking? It was in the bahamas and decided to stop working right. It still fires but it sounds like a 22lr going off and gets really really hot.
