I know the ONE MILLIONTH 110 was made in 2005.

Anybody know what the total is now?

Joe?

And what about 112s? Are we getting close to a million?

Inquiring minds are curious.

:)

The August 1994 Newsletter (Page 6) says, "Sometime soon Buck will pass the ten million mark on one single model, the 110 Folding Hunter." I don't know where that figure came from, and I don't have any information about the 112.

Wow!! Did I mistake one million for ten million then???

We need to hear from Joe.

I believe it is one million a year the last few years.
bertl is correct ,10 million total 1964- 1994

I wonder what the 1 Billonth limited edition 110's will look like! ;)

Oh, man......I gotta plead ADHD.

I got that from the DVD and C.J. was holding up a 110 and said, "Our one-millionth knife in Idaho."

Had I been paying better attention, I'd have figured out what that REALLY meant.

However, I do have a quote from C.J. on this forum in January 2011. There he said:

As to the 110's...I put some numbers together years ago but I would estimate we have made over 10 million 110's. There were some years in the 70's where that knife alone was way over half our business. I think at the top we were making over 600k 110's in a single year.

He did give a caveat that this was more or less an educated guess.

So......that's probably the best we'll get on the 110s.

However......isn't it about time for a big 112 celebration as the 112 turns FORTY next year???

After that embarrassing 25th Anniversary fiasco where the 112 got lumped in with the 110--how about a big party and some special models of the 112?

How about it, Buck?

Also.......anybody got a guess at total numbers of 112s in almost forty years?

Yeah, well......it would make up for all the times you beat me on knives.

:)

Here's another quote from Joe Houser in 2009:

The last time I counted, and this was in the late 1990's, we had made over 11million 110's!

Joe......how about another count?

And......what about that celebration for the 112s Fortieth Birthday party???

:)

We've discussed this before and back then 10 milion was correct. Thanks bert and Earl. DM

The best we can hope for is an educated guess and the unfortunate thing is that when you say that, all eyes are on me, the guy with the lowest education level! IF i could figure out when exactly I did the count that gave us 11 million, I might be able to count forward from that point.
Unfortunately, the old computer system that had sales numbers on it, was tossed into the landfill. The Buck Collectors club did pay to have our old IT guy write a program whereby I can pull "some" of that data. My confidence level in any number I could get would be medium at best. That 11 million 110 number included specials and LE's.
How many 112's since 1972? If I just look at standard and finger grooved, brass and NK, I could come up with a number. I'll add it to my list of cool projects to do when I have more time.

Well, how about the fortieth birthday stuff?

Maybe you can shoot the idea to the marketing people. A celebration and a few cool 112 models for the occasion might just cause sales to increase.

Don't say you're going to wait until the 50th.......some of us probably won't live that long!

:)

Also.....since we must be closing in on 25 million 110s.......isn't there another celebration in order soon?

All you have to do is "Pull" that data that the BCCI arranged to get for you and come up with almost 25 million and plan a celebration.

:D

yes a 25 millinth buck 110 .. now that would be a knife
and a 50 buck inc and a 50 110
yep not too soon to get your sujestions put in to the folks what makes decisions!!

I think the ratio of 110's to 112's would be 7 or 8 to 1 or more now,in total production since 1963...20 to 1.If you look at just SP's over the years the 110 the ratio is way over 20 to 1..That said I believe a 112 DP with finger groves is close to a perfect hand held tool..
