How many blade show HG55's are there? Plus sharpening question

I have one of the blade show hg55's with the satin blade and black paper micarta scales, and was wondering if anyone knew how many were made?.
Next question. Should I get it convexed, and what would the advantages, disadvantages be on it?.

From what I understand, convexing makes the edge nice and easy to maintain in the field with just a strop and maybe a light abrasive. And I have seen some screamin' sharp convex edges on these forums. As far as disadvantages, I don't know, as I have limited experience with them.

+1 for easy to maintain in the field. i convex a lot of blades and even converted a few guys who didnt like convexed edges into liking them. check out what brian jones had to say about the chopper i made for him which has a convex edge http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=609189

don't think they ever tell you how many were made but I don't think all that many people have them. I got one!
