How many knives do you plan to give this holiday season? Think I've purchased 9 so far (not including 2 for myself):

3 throwing knives for a bud
A Case Peanut for my nephew
A Spyderco Native and a SAK for my girlfriend
A Spyderco Jester for my sister
A Spyderco Calypso for my sister's boyfriend
A Spyderco Ladybug for Mom's boyfriend

Diablero

A Spyderco Native and a SAK for my girlfriend
A Spyderco Jester for my sister

See, that's great and all but on my end, they would never use them:p. There's being enthusiastic about a hobby and then there's wasting money.

I bought my dad a Spyderco Centofante III.

Warthog

3 throwing knives and 1 cold steel torpedo for my brother. I also made a knife from Knifekits.com for my dad and stepmom to use in the kitchen, but I actually gave that to them a little early. 1 SAK for my father, so all together I guess 5 knives and one knife - like object.

Lagarto

Gil Hibben Pro Thorwers (Set of three)
Benchmade Mini Grip
Opinel #8
Opinel pairing knife
CRKT m-16 tanto

Still not done shopping yet!

JFYI -
it is an old tradition/superstition that to give a knife is to signify severing/cutting one's relationship.

So the old custom is to make the recipient BUY the knife off you
by paying a token small sum of money - like 1 cent.......

Even if you don't believe in it -
it's a cute tradition and a conversation starter.

Why would you want to arm the person you're cutting ties with? That just sounds like poor planning to me.

For me: A Nemesis Imp in Silver g-10.

For my dad: An Ontario 18" D handled machete with an orange handle and nylon/canvas sheath. (Btw - this machete is awesome. 1/8" thick blade. No rivets. Solid.) He asked for one.

For a good friend: I'm building a nice filet knife from a blank from texas knifemaker's supply and green micarta.

Last year I gave out a bunch of knife gifts. This year I'm toning it down so I don't become a serial knife nut.

My dad's getting a small Gerber to beat up, a Superknife for his toolbox, my brother got an angle grinder (kinda knifelike, it'll cut and hopefully won't fold up ;) )

The original plan was to give them away but after buying about 15 knives at the last Buck sale and having most of them signed, nobodys getting a knife this year

With his mothers aproval (finaly!) I get to but my 11yr old nephew his first SAK
One Spartan about to be wraped. :D

Now I deserve a present...
As I type this I have another window open on the screen.
Never guess what this shop sells.
(No, I have 2 screens, the porns on the other one ;) )
Another sharp pointy thing is about to clutter my coffee table.

I'm thinking a nice folder for my buddy who graduates from his Army AIT training tomorrow, will be the only blade I buy for Christmas. We'll have to see though, knowing him he may already be packing a nice blade, since he's known the value of a good knife for a long time.
