Alright, given the direction that this thread is taking, I thought another poll was in order.

How many blades is the most you would really carry?

(does not include in the house - you actually have to be in public with the number)

(also, at least one has to be a bali)

I have my BM-42s, backup BM-239, and a small Ninja To (2" long) that I made when I was 15 as a nuesance thread cutter. Sometimes when I'm feeling particularly jaunty I'll add my Cold Steel neck Spike to the list:D great thrower too!;)

"Don't live by the sword, let the Sword live by YOU!"

Anything over two, IMO, is overkill.

My first kali teacher used to say, "Two is one and one is none."

So, if you think two is the right number, then you actually have to carry three.

I agree, it's good to have a backup for everything. Even a deadly weapon.:) But when you start to carry insane amount of weapons on you, you increase the chances of being locked up. Also, don't forget the movie "I'm Gonna Get You Sucka". I know they were guns but I think it's relavent.

I carry 1 BM model 43 and my Cold Steel Kobun at all times.
My philosophy is better to have a blade and not need itthen to need a blade and not have it.

my philosophy is one for every occasion
when you can't pull something in public because it's too big, pull out the smaller one. If someone attacks you, pull out your two biggest. You loose those, always have a back-up

I usually carry two, a bm42 and spyderco crickt with a serrated edge.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I actually only carry one knife and its not a bali. I dont carry my balis around since Im afraid Ill lose them. Ive had horrible experiences losing knives so now I only carry a cheapy jaguar folding set for general knife usage such as box opening, etc... I personally dont believe in knives as a form of self defense. I live in a rather big city and figure if I cant handle them weaponless its because they gotta gun or there are too many of them. Either way a knife wouldnt be of much help in either situation. Not to mention the hassle of dealing with police if there are any mishaps. I used to ocassionally carry around a rather big bolo Filipino style, but Ive stopped since I figure hey Im not in PI but the US. Anyways I personally believe my best self-defense weapon is on top of my shoulders, followed by my legs for running, and a cell phone for calling help. Not really the macho thing to say but well I have a son to think of and he doesnt need a Dad that's in jail because he did something to some fool.
