How many Busses should you have?

I think that "how many Busses should you have" is an incredibly silly and irrelevant question, because only you can answer that, in light of your financial situation, family responsibilities, how you priortize your interests, etc.

On the other hand, "How many Busses should I have" is very relevant to me, and the last time I asked it was in bed just after I awoke this morning. Having to install new windows and siding on my house (they are starting work tomorrow), Christmas expenses looming just ahead, current state of the economy, and other factors had me thinking that maybe I have enough. Maybe it's time to quit. Then I see the HOG SFNO pics, the price drops again on a couple on the exchange that I have been watching, and this afternoon the answer has changed to, "maybe three more."

But then there's the Kuk coming, I still don't have a Force One or an ST-56, maybe I need one more BAD, there are still a couple of grail NO-E variants out there, ...................:confused:

Man I've got it just as bad as you. You are not alone. My name is cutterman, and I'm a BUSSEHOLIC!

I like to have as many as fit in my display case. That keeps my collection and investment under control and forces me to keep only the ones I LOVE.

I've got a few SFNOs coming though ;)

I've been through at least 35+ blades.. these are the ones that stayed!! :)

I have all of the users I need and a few Safe Queens but I think I'll be going for a SFNO LE for sure. And I don't have a boney Active Duty either... So the disease is universal, my friend.

At a minimum I would say three... small, medium and large.

At a maximum... whatever makes sense for your personal situation. This amount will vary and lies somewhere between three and three hundred. :p

My personal maxim is to:
  • Only keep ones that I could realistically see myself using.
  • I don't keep duplicates if at all possible, i.e. only one AD, one BAD, one NMSFNO, one NMSFNOLE.
  • I have a "new one in and an old one out" policy and try to increase the total number of knives by only a few each year so that helps keep things under control.

The number at the bottom of my 'total' column.

Trouble is, I appear to be off by a couple :(:eek::confused:

Scotch Dispensers :thumbup:, DUH:rolleyes:, I'd forgotten to enter the SDs, into the spread sheet.

Thanks :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

:rolleyes::D

I just got a nice little Game Warden I bought from another forumite on the exchange. It's my first Busse. I've got plenty of Dogs and Rats but the satin-finish and the .200 thick blade on such a small knife instantly won me over. I'd have to say I'm infected as well...because that's the first question I asked myself when I first handled the GW! "Why don't I have more of these?!?!"
