How many carry more then 1 large folder?

Something I was thinking about, as I only have 3 folders. A Chinook II, Benchmade 806, and benchmade 610. Everyday I get up like every knife nut, and thinking about what I'm doing and what to choose. Sometimes I carry the 806 and Chinook. The 806, for the serrations, and more utility work. The Chinook for the hefty blade. Then I got a 610, plain edge.

I was wondering if anyone else carries more then 1 large folder and why. If not, what makes a nice companion to a large folder?

An SAK or multitool. A nice two or three blade knife for smaller cutting tasks. I probably wouldn't carry two blades of the same size unless my work required it for a specific task.

I agree.

Why carry 2 knives the same size?

For me, the second (or third) is for the tasks that the first one can't do.

EDIT: I usually carry a Maxx or a Heat and a SAK classic.

Same here. I carry a Manix for heavier chores and a Boker SubCom for light stuff and when a large folder would turn too many heads.

I carry large and small. My EDC system consists of either a Manix or Military in the right front pocket, combined with either a Lava or Dodo in the back left pocket. Like the person above, I use the smaller knife when heads will turn, or for delicate work.

No different from the rest. I carry a large single bladed knife because I like too and I can, but at the same time I carry a two-bladed slipjoint that really does the major part of my knife work.

I used to have a Kershaw 1415st that has a hair shaving ATS-34 blade I bought about 8-10 years ago.I carried that and a Lg. Reg. Sebenza and have just retired my Kershaw to my wife's purse. So,I am going to get a Sm. Classic Sebby and carry the two.

I also like to carry a small knife and a larger one. Don't want to freak anyone out with a big knife, so I have a smaller one for the little things.

I will occassionally carry two large folders. Most often is it because I have one on passaround. Otherwise, if I'm not working on my parents' house, I'll carry one large, one medium, and one tiny. Current EDC set-up: Microtech LCC D/A, Kershaw ZDP Leek, A. G. Russell Ultimate Pen knife black pearl. If I'm only carrying two, the large + medium slots get taken care of by my Kershaw Blue Bump, or Microtech Scarab.

I EDC my Strider GB and ZT 0301 everyday. I kinda feel naked without either in my pocket.

I usually one in each pocket, just to make sure I have a knife within reach by either arm.

If you only carry 1 folder, a nice companion for overall utility use would be a multi-tool, like a Leatherman Wave. They cover a lot of areas that a folder may not, and they certainly would be a good choice to carry anywhere, especially in the field where you would also be carrying a lot of gear, like if you were going camping or doing any other outdoor-related activity.

Recently, I've had my BM710D2 with me when I wear cargos. My SERE 2K and Rescue 93 mm rides in my Maxpedition. Very occasionally, I will have my Spydie Police with me - today, for instance:) I'm one that carries multiple folders constantly - not that a actually need them per se, but usually I have at least a Spydie Delica 4 and a BM Mini-Grip along with a small SAK. If I have reno work on my revenue properties, I will take several folders wtih me - I'm usually on a pretty tight schedule and taking time to sharpen isn't in the equation until after I get home or after I'm done. Last weekend, for instance, I had my Ka-Bar/Dozier Folding hunter and my Bryd Crow with me - I used one, wife used the other, we totally took the edges off both enough that I had to use my 1x30 to re-profile edges (scraping lino glue off concrete) and also dulled my D4 scraping paint and stripping wire. Other times, at work, we get PC's into our test centre and of course, the other don't have blades to open up and knock down the boxes, so out come my blades:)

Manix in LFP and CFBG Military in right leg/ruler pocket...among others. Trust me, you don't want to know how many knives I carry :D

Like Gord, I do a lot of renovation work. Unlike him, I do it every day. Time constraint is an excellent term for the deadlines I face every day. Stopping to sharpen is seldom an option, and we have hard/abrasive surfaces everywhere that eat edges in no time flat.

Only when I cant make up my mind , or concievably in the bush . For me it's usually a multitool , a medium folder , and a small pocket scalpel ( for hi sheeple enviroments ) .

Generally I pair large with small. Byrd Cara Cara or Buck 110 with a Vic Classic. Same reason as others, sometimes a smaller blade is better for more precise work and the Classic has tools I frequently use (Screwdriver, scissors, tweezers).

I like to carry one large folder (today it's my Spyderco Military) and addition to that, I carry my SwissTool. I don't see the need to having two large folders with me.

I usually carry my Manix and a smaller slipjoint like my Queen Canoe in 1095.Two large folders would be too much with my keys and all.
