I started with 4. That excludes a couple commissions that I placed but that I don't expect to ever get, e.g., sword commission to Vince Evans dating back from 2003.

Joss,
Only one firm order in, though am hopeful on a second piece. Depends on which way the blade-gods blow...................

well, I have had 4 on order with one maker for over 5 years and have asked another maker to do me at least 4 - 6 with 2 coming soon and hopefully the others not too far behind. I seldom order though.

For 2008 and 2009 I have 8 outstanding orders with 8 different makers. After that no outstanding commissions besides that I'm on Jerry Fisk's list for somewhere around 2011/2012 I hope;).

Just 4 for me (although I voted "3" - I forgot my "standing order" for a slipjoint each year from Bud Weston)

Tim Britton, Johnny Stout, and (I think ;) ) Bill Ruple.

I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure I have eight on order with seven different makers...

but then....

Kevin, cover you eyes, you will find this positively SCANDALOUS....

I have 5 - yes 5 KNIVES on order with Russ Andrews. Over time, Russ will be making me a 5-hunter set - each with different blade shapes, blade steels and handle materials, but all with the same overall dimensions.

Shocking, no? To think that a collector would have THAT MANY knives on order with a single maker? :p

Roger - wasn't there a thread last year where you listed 35 orders? Were they all delivered last year?

I'm really not sure, I have orders that range from very old to recent. Everyday is an adventure with knives on order! I placed orders at the Arkansas Show in 2002
for 6 knives, so far I've gotten two. Not holding my breath!

I am pretty sure that '07 was my "most knives ever" year. I'd be surprised if it were quite that many, but then again, I do need to keep better track of these things. It might be time for one of Kevin's spreadsheets. :)

I've got a Patton on order (well, Phillip's working out the details with me) and might order a Moritaka (is it custom if the knife is a hand-forged special order and everyone in the shop is related?), but definitely the one.

but I am not sure.

Have a multibar damascus small dagger from J.D. Smith, and Bailey's interpretation of a Randall 14 coming this year that I am most excited about....with a few others that I don't want to jinx.:D

Best Regards,

Currently 4. It would be 6 if I had answered this last week but one I canceled since I was not getting anywhere with the maker. With two remaining on order I could not tell you the status of either one of them since I have not even heard back from the makers for a price or time frame yet.

The other two have informed me of when they would be ready and for how much and one of those two, Charles May has been more than super about getting back to me. The other Gene Baskett is simply making a new blade for a folder of his I already have and he too has been right on top of things for the most part going out of his way to contact me with questions or status.

Two have told me twice now they'd be back to me within a specific time and neither have done so and are at this point way late doing what they said they would do when they said they were going to do it. I have contacted both and await a reply. Needless to say both stand to see me just forget the whole thing based on how its going so far. I have little tolerance for being ignored. Call me fussy I guess. I expect what I give out and rarely get it.

I have three on order.
One from Lin Rhea, similar to the Filicietti I acquired from Stephen Foster except it will be a ladder pattern Damascus blade with DI handle.
One from Don Hanson III,piece still undecided.
And one from a maker who shall remain anonymous, for now. :)
