OK you Hogs and Pigs, how many different variations of the BM were made since Busse first started making them. Handles, blade sizes, rivets, screws, steel type and handle materials were used. Photo's would also be a big help for the newer generation of INFI Addicts. Thanks to all you Hogs and Pigs for all your cooperation and knowledge. D, :)

Ah, SHBM only. That helps, cuz otherwise this would be a big thread.

I will let the experts take this one.

Thanks guys, yeah I see few different versions from time to time aroud here. So I was curious as to when Busse started making the SHBM. And how many style/changes of blades and handles they had gone through.

I was thinking you are one of the experts, oh wise old HOG.:D

.

Thank you piglet; you show respect for your elders.

I grunt in your general direction. :D

Alas, the SHBM were before my time. Although I am now blesssed with two of them, I lack knowledge to pass on. Would that Cobalt spent more time here. Or papathud. Lil' Foo and pbubsy know where of they speak, as well.

Use the Force Luke.

I mean the search function.

This has come up several times since 2001.

I think it might be kind of nifty to see them all listed in one place, but I'm not sure I know them all off the top of my head, but here goes. Anyone chime in with what I miss...

The first 300 had three variations:
**Swedge that met in the middle
**Swedge that was rounded a bit
**Swedge that was squared off

Handles varied and so did the bolts
**Smooth handles
**partially grooved handles

**Both smooth bolts and slotted

Flat spine SHBM's had several handle variations
**Vertical grooves over the entire handle
**Vertical grooves over part of the handle
**Diagonal grooves over the entire handle
**Very few had smooth handles

Bolts, some had smooth bolts, some slotted, some tubes.

Some satin finished knives are out there, most are LE's some are not.
**Both slotted bolts and tubes, and at least one satin with smooth handles
**and smooth bolts (saw it in an old American Survival Guide)

I'm purposely not counting the new variants.

Leatherman thats a start for sure, any Idea what was the first year of manufacture. Thank you Sir,

iirc, 1999?

Though I know Jerry was talking INFI back in 98
