How many different steels has Buck put in the 110?

Posting in another thread, I realized that I own 110s with the following steels.

440C (a couple of Buck two-dots bought on eBay)
425M (a finger-grooved Buck 110 I bought on eBay)
420HC (100th Anniversary knife)
ATS-34 (regular 110 that I sent in for a blade exchange)
BG-42 (custom 110 in stag/nickel silver)

I am about to order the Alaskan Guide 110 with the S30V from Cabela's, which would bring my 110 steel total to 6 steels.

Is it just the early file (carbon) steel that I'm lacking here? Or, put another way, has Buck put any other blade steels that I haven't mentioned in a 110?

I think the 110 was stainless (440-C) from the beginning. But if you prefer carbon steel you could order one up in Damascus.:)

Buck made a 110 with anything but stainless?
Wasn't sure if any of the very first Bucks had carbon steel. That may be way off the mark though.

Ah, damascus.... that's what I'm forgetting.

I checked The History of Buck Knives and if I understand the timeline right, Buck was already committed to 440C for it's entire production well before the 110 came about in 1964/65.

Now if they ever do decide to do a non-stainless 110, let's start the chant now!

Thanks for the info TLC.

Yeah, I'd snap up a D2 110 in a heartbeat.

What's the difference between these two??? Please, in simple English...I'm no metallurgist... ;)

You're missing 420HC, which the current 110s are made of.
Sorry for the confusion. That was a typo. "440HC" should have been "420HC." I've corrected the mistake in the original post.

Well, I ordered the S30V 110. Couldn't stand Buck making a 110 in a steel configuration I didn't have.

Really, I had no choice. Buck simply forced my hand in the matter. :D

Now, about that damascus.....

You should be commended for holding out as long as you did. They really did push you too hard! :D

It's ok Guyon, Things will heal in a few weeks.

I just sprung for a couple of the BG42's out of the Custom Shop and some of those S30v's
Thats gonna take a few months to heal..
