How many duplicates do you have, "Just In Case"?

At the moment the only exact duplicate I have is a Spyderco Harpy.

I would like to get a duplicate Spyderco Temperance Jr. but the reality is I never wear my knives out fast enough to need the duplicate before something more exciting comes along.

So lets hear how many duplicates you have, "Just in case" you can't get another one?

I do the same. I like to have a 2nd, just in case.
I have 2 Shabaria, 2 Endura, 2 Delica, 2 Chinese Folders, and 2 Pegasus. Still working on some other "2nd's"(940, Goddard, Mouse, Vesuvius) :)

The BM Griptilian drop point is my defensive EDC. I have 2 other Griptilians in storage, plus one of the new Griptilian trainers. I don't cut anything with my Griptilian (I carry a smaller utility knife for actual use), so even though I'm never going to wear it out, I'm afraid that I'm eventually going to lose it or have it confiscated somewhere. I may be crazy, but at least I picked a relatively inexpensive knife to get obsessive about.

The only other "multiple" I have is a small Case Texas Toothpick (2 of these), although I am considering getting backups for my mini-Griptilian and my Kershaw Double Cross.

I have none at the moment, but if money was no option, I would buy two of each knife I get. That way I could put one in storage, and use the other. I always wished I had a NIB version of all those toys I had as a kid. They would be worth a fortune now. I feel the same way about knives. There are some knives that just beg to be used, and every single knife I own is in used condition. I just wish I had some duplicates to pass on to my kids.

That right there sums it up perfectly. What's sad is that I realize that, but I still want the duplicate for some reason.

But alas, I have no duplicates, and I am even now thinning the herd to help pay for more exciting knives that I have bought by 'floating' the expense.

I've 4 Buck 307 4 1/4 stockman and 3 Leatherman original supertools
That means that I have back ups for my daily susers simply because
both are discontinued products. I like them so well I bought extras
to use as the others wear out. Knida nuts???? yeah, it is ,but heck
it makes me comfortable so what does it matter.??

Lets see......

(2) BM Stryker 910 BT2 Combos (Weekend EDCs carried together)
(2) Spydie Bob Lum Tanto Folders (Rotation EDC on Weekend)
(2) MT LCC's (not really a dup, but the non DA is a carrier)
(2) Kershaw Chives (Woman wanted one...but if SHE becomes a knive nut too, we'll be broke  :p )

Even if the 2nd is a waste in some cases, at least I always have the option of selling one off ......NOT!!!! :D

0,

I don't believe in, nor do I have time or money for, duplicates.
I buy knives that I think I will either enjoy or have a strong use for, if they get discontinued... i'm just glad I've got the one I've got.

I have a pair of Marbles Plainsman knives and although they have different handle materials, I thought one would be a user and one I would keep nib but I can't decide which to use as they both are too perty. So much for duplicates. lol

No duplicates. I want to try as many knives as I can before I move along and that means that I just don't have the money or the desire to own more than one of each knife that I buy.

I used to have several duplicates, but I am now down to just one set. I have one BladeForums Sifu with green scales and an ATS-34 blade. My other Sifu is a black blade and black scaled version in D-2. Until the Maxx came out the Sifu was my EDC, so I liked having a "backup" as well as a color choice. :D

No duplicates in my humble collection right now. However I do believe my gf is getting me a CRKT M16 CF this year as part of my birthday present. When I get this knife, it will be my first duplicate.

One to abuse and one just to look pretty!!

I purchased a Spyderco Micarta Calypso JR PE, liked it and then found out I could not get another one since it was an experimental model. Next I found out that Calypso JR was discontinued so I got two SS/PE so that I would have backups. Shortly I intend to purchase another Spyderco Masaad Ayoob model for the same reasons (no plans to discontinue but I want to be safe).

I have one wife and six girl friends, but they're all unique

As for knives, I have more than one knife optimized for the same mission, but no actual duplicates, other than in throwing knives, for same reasons as many above. Not enough money, and I don't wear them out anyway I have so many.

I have a duplicate NIB Spyderco Wegner plain edge, and thats just because I love the Wegner so much.

Awhile back I had a whole bunch of duplicates. Now the only twin pair I have are 2 Buck Nighthawks. I do have 2 Spyderco Chinooks, one plain-edge, and one part-serrated. I also have both the Camillus Cuda CQB-1 and CQB-2 if that counts...And then there are my SOG Tigershark and SOG Seal Pup...:).

I have several Moras and Opinels because I have used them a lot and they are cheap.

I have several swiss army knives (mostly tinker model) but these are not duplicates as they are assigned to various survival kits.

I now want to get a few extra Schrade Shapfingers.
