How many fishing rods do you own ?

Today I was going through our small shed to get some stuff, and for some reason the fishing rods caught my eye...
I don't often pay much attention to them until about a month before opening weekend, but for some reason I started moving them out.

I decided to bring a handful of rods into the house today, and check them out, and give them a good cleaning and polish.
Well, there are now 17 rods leaning against the wall in the living room, and I just remembered there are two fly rods
in our bedroom closet. So that is 19 so far...

I'm honestly not sure how many more there are, but I could see two other groups of rods that haven't been used in years, in the shed...
I'm guessing by the time I get the rest of them out, it will be between 30-35 rods, which really surprises me because I don't intentionally collect them

I'm now really questioning why the wife and I bought new Lamiglas spinning rods last week lol...

I know there are plenty of people that have way more than I do. Heck, my dad does. The last time I talked to him about them, he said he had close to 50, and most all of them are mint condition vintage Fenwicks.

Sooo, how many do you have laying around ?

Now that you mention it, looks like 11 for me. They range from a heavy catfish pole down to my UL spinner. Seems like I go with the UL more than anything else though. Guess that's because even a little minnow feels like a whale on that one.:)

You need to have a garage sale :)
Really though when I add up my stix I think I have to many as well. There's about 20 of all sorts. My excuse is I have a small lake a crossed the street and I live a half mile from the Gulf of Mexico.

3 and each one has a purpose and is used every year.

Mine range from Salmon to UL as well. The light and UL get the most use, but I really need to start Steelhead fishing again

0. That was easy.

Nice. We are surrounded by quite a few incredible lakes, and the Deschutes river is only about 1 1/2 miles from our house...

I don't think we will be having a garage sale lol... I still have my first fishing rods my parents bought me for my 12th Birthday, which was about 43 years ago.
It is an Eagle Claw spinning and fly fishing set. A couple of the rods were my Grandfathers that I got when he passed away 10 years ago, but some of them
I don't remember when or where I bought them :D

I have a two or three that I use a fair amount. But I have spare rods with no reels mounted just waiting for the need to call. My usual outing requires me to take one equipped rod to use and one and sometimes two spares just in case.

Own? Probably 20 or so.....

A lot of mine aren't set up with reels either. Depending on how far away from home we are, I always take two complete setups, and sometimes a bare rod too.
I really don't know why I do though, because if things are going so crappy I need to use all of them, I'm going back home :D

Good gosh, some of you guys need to seek help...hahaha..j/k
I have 6 and each one is setup to cover the techniques I fish.
The wife would sell ME on ebay if I had that many...lol

5 - 2 highly collectable that my wife will pry out of my clenched hand and sell after I die...

More rod/reel setups than knives. That's a lot lol. I generally have three for each species or size fish I'm going for. Ultralights for panfish. Med, heavy, extra heavy for bass. Heavy and extra heavy with high drag reels for muskie. Trolling setups for walleye. Heavy and extra heavy with freeline bails for Catfish. A couple noodle rods for steelhead. And one fly-fishing setup, that I never use, just because it was a good deal lol.

The real question (expensive question) is how much tackle do you have? That's where most of my money goes.

Well, I went back out to the shed, and brought ten more rods in the house. That brings the total to 27. I know there are some more though that are buried deep behind a bunch of other stuff, and I didn't feel like moving everything. I don't think there are that many left. Guessing another 3-5 but not sure.

My dad has all of his stuff set up similar to you. He is very fussy, about his stuff, and everything is separated into species and uses.
He has at least two big tackle boxes full of stuff for each style of fishing he does.

I don't have near the tackle he has. I only have two big boxes full, and two smaller boxes that are partially full of miscellaneous stuff.
In the last few years I have started really condensing things when we go fishing. I try to put everything I will need in a smaller box. Packing around
a big heavy tackle box while hiking into some of the lakes got old a long time ago :D

I hear that. I used to bring a giant tacklebox that's actually a backpack. Now I'm a little wiser and I keep all my gear in organizers in the shed. I take a small Plano box with what I'll need for the day and a few miscellaneous items in case I change it up if the targeted species isn't biting.

It's funny how we prioritize as we get older :D 20 years ago I would have never ventured out with less than enough tackle for 6 people LOL...
A small Plano box is what I have been using the last few years too. I just went through it to get prepared for opening weekend this Saturday, and
just as I expected, still WAY more stuff in there than I need :D

I'm just getting into fishing with my buddies. I had zero gear.. got one spinning rod/reel, then a backup spinner, then a baitcaster. So from zero to 3 in a few weeks.

Count them???
Wouldn't that be messing with the mojo????

Before we moved here, I used to have a tackle room.
So I'll just say >10 :D

Cool...

Alot. It's embarrassing really.

LOL... As I sit here staring at mine, I kinda had the same thought, but nobody else really knows how many I have, except the wife.
She doesn't have any room to talk though. She just told me this morning that she ordered another new reel. I taught her well; Almost to well
because she knows the difference between quality and junk, and quality usually costs more. I'd rather she did that though then tell me she bought two crap reels.
