I just altered 3 pairs of jeans to remove the rivets from the "change" pocket. I found the rivets would rub against my knives. Luckily I caught this before any real damage was done to my knives.

I can't be the only one that has done this.:confused:

You may be the only one now, but after people start reading this we may follow your foot steps!

Thanks, never thought of those being a possibility to scratching up my knives!

Actually, I recall reading a post in these very forums a few months back, but I can't dig up the thread. I thought there were more people out there though. To be fair, I only paid attention to it because of my latest knife purchase, a DDR HTM GH2. However, when I think back when I carried the ZT 0350, I often wondered why the black g10 had maroon colored marks on it in the area where the thumbstud would act as a stop pin. It never occurred to me that those marks came from the copper rivets of my change pocket. On the g10, I found that I could just wipe the marks away, so I never thought twice about how they got there. On metal handle scales, I imagine the marks would be more permanent.

I hate sideclips. One of the things I used to do (now days I carry fixed blades more often) is to sew the right hand pockets. A line up the center (more or less) turns the pocket into a soft sheath, and prevents the knife from twisting around.

Some high end mens slacks come with a knife/key pocket already, but I always prefered it to be to the back of the pocket, not the front.

All I wear for pants are Carhart Cargo and Carpenter Pants or shorts anyway, some nice pockets and loops, no need to alter them.

I don't know if you would call it alteration, but like eisman, I'm not a big clip fan. But when I was carrying folders, I'd buy 2" and 3" rolls of elastic and then sew a length of them onto the back of my front pocket. It made an excellent, and secure, in the pocket sheath. I removed the clip, fit a small lanyard for an easy draw, and nobdy knew I was carrying. I've since started carrying fixed blades most ofthe time, as well.

I haven't altered any clothes, but I do wear certain types of pants that allow me to easily carry a few of the folders I have. I wear baggy, slash pocketed pants/shorts that allow be to carry my Strider AR and my Retribution 1, that I installed a clip on for deep carry tip up, unnoticed.

I've gotten a needle and thread and reinforced the edges of the pockets on a few of my jeans so they don't get frayed. I've considered picking up some kevlar or spectra thread to do that, but so far regular thread has worked just fine.
