I have been watching it and it is one of the funniest shows on TV in a very long time. It takes a few shows to get into the characters but, once you do, they just keep getting funnier and funnier. The guy who plays Sheriff Carter does the most wonderful deadpan lines, just like Ziva in "NCIS".

The basic backstory is that there is this town hidden away in the Northwest where the DoD and other federal government agencies, unspecified, have set up a research facility and the wntire town is populated by people who are at minimum geniuses, so there is always something quirky going on. Add to this the fact that there is a sort of Area 51 situation at the research facility in that there is a part that is so secret that nobody can go there except the extreme few who work there and anything that has to do with that section is automatically classified "Beyond Top Secret, Burn Before Reading". We don't know what is in there, but it apparently puts out radiation that has effects on people.

I've heard commercials for it on the radio, is it on cable? I'm one of the few who doesn't have cable, only network tv.

watched a couple of episodes and liked it pretty well, i think it's one of those shows like x files, it may take a little bit to gain an audience but if they don't cancel it i think it will go. now for the down side, i liked it so, as mentioned above, it's doomed. later, ahgar

I sometimes feel that my enjoyment of a TV show is a guarantee of its failure, but I get over that when I remember that I LOVED Buffy, all of the various Star Trek spin-offs, NCIS, and West Wing. So, I feel pretty good until I remember that I also loved Babylon5.:grumpy:

What are the good shows out there right now? CSI, which I used to really enjoy, started making fun of itself this season, and went past the comical stage into the downright dull stage. Didn't watch the last few episodes this season. NCIS has been the one show I'll make sure to watch. If it looks like a good episode, I'll watch the Unit. Other than that, there hasn't been anything that has kept my attention. The only two series that look appealing to me are Jericho and Heroes for the new fall lineup.

Well, Hell, SHS, you need to get cable or satellite. I have all but given up on the broadcast channels.

seems most of the series I watch now are on cable. The few shows I generally try to catch:

Eureka - SciFi
Rome - HBO
Entourage - HBO
Monk - USANetwork
Psych - USANetwork

and the one show one regular network TV I try to catch,

Two and a Half Men

which, considering that a) I like it, and b) it stars John Cryer, it's a minor miracle that not only was it picked up, but it's the #1 sitcom on TV.

If it lasts, it could end up being a good show. For now, I give it a "fair watch."

I've noticed it usually takes a solid season for a show (and it's crew) to meld and get comfortable enough to create some great TV.

Unfortunately, I've also noticed that approx. 4-5 seasons is all a show is worth (most go down hill for one reason or another).

I caught the first episode and one other. I really liked it. I forget that it is on, and therefore miss it!! It isa GREAT show!!

hey eureka is a great show!!!! it's definately a show that dosent take itself too seriously with all the wise cracks from everyone --not just the sheriff. the guy that has the gas station and is a genius was the guy that helped invent the chip that caused world destruction in terminator 2. sci fi has really gotten into its own lately remember
TODAYS SCIENCE FICTION IS TOMORROWS REALITY

Eureka is the only series I watch. Great show. Colin Ferguson, in particular, as the sheriff is terrific. . The odd-man-out average appearing guy who manages to solve global crises created by a town of super geniuses that goof up. Love Joe Morton and the supporting cast. The SciFi channel has finally hit a home run. I'm hooked.
