How many Hinderers are manufactured a year?

Personally I don't feel that's it's a practical question..... An artist should never be asked how much art he's going to produce in any given period. No mater what answer the artist gives, it puts boundrys on their creativity, and changes the work from art to inventory.

Frankly, I've never asked Rick or Rob partially because I don't care but mostly because.....It's none of my business.

I mostly wanted to know just to see how rare our knives were. For example I have 2 Umnumzaans that were made on my birthday in 2012 & I've always wondered how many knives were made per day just to have an idea of how many more knives were made on my birthday that I could be looking for.
As far as how many knives per year I don't think it would be fair knowing how many they make because we can then calculate how much they make per year & a bunch of other things we don't need to know.

When you factor in things such as shows having more lottery entries than knives and even people that arrive too late to get a ticket. And add in that Rick is genuine when he says things about wishing he could put his knives into the hands of those allowed to direct order...but often production cannot keep up with demand or the knife requested isn't in the current production cycle. Things like this further show that the production number still has plenty of room to grow even in a troubled global economic picture. So, how many? Best answer is as many as possible.

I have it on good authority the XM production numbers are 200-500 per year.

While in some ways Rick is indeed an artist i dont think this is a great comparison. I think a better comparison would be Ferrari. Ferrari only builds a handful of cars a year and its hard to get your hands on a brand new one, sure you can get one from second hand market but your getting a used product. Calling a utility knife a piece of art makes be afraid to cut things with it.

I think we all can agree Rick doesn't make that many knives a year, and they are indeed rare. However its always nice to know what you have. People like being able to say they own a knife from a company that only produces say 1000 knives annually, its a compliment to RHK.

I firmly believe in quality over quantity! I personally think the Hinderer crew has a great formula for success. Keeping things the right size so you can pay attention to details and keep quality second to none, and above all...have fun and enjoy what your doing! Having met Rick, Rob, and Rob last year at Blade, it is a pleasure to see guys that are enjoying such a well deserved level of success genuinely have fun and enjoy the ride while remaining humble and gracious! That's why I'm proud to be a member of the herd! True gentlemen and incredible knives!

You might know about Ferraris...don't you work for or with a used exotic retailer? Some photos of the XM with exotic cars could be pretty cool.

Hinderers are "rare" because demand is high. For example, some knife makers might hand-make 10 knives, but the demand isnt there...so while rare and limited, it's not a sign of prestige.

Certain "friends of" aka loyal Ferrari customers get priority on pre-order of new vehicles or access to limited items like the FXX.

Yes BUT..... We all know Who REALLY makes it all happen........

Lori :D

IMO Art is in the eyes of the observer.... I used to work on exotic cars, and some days they're art, and some days they're total JUNK! It all depends on what the car is doing. As far as Rick's knives go the art is in both what the knife is capable of and the craftsmanship that goes into it......and yes a Ferrari is art... Again In my opinion.... And same here Lori is on my labels too...
