How many is too many?

I've had pocketknives since I was a boy and that was a while ago. I was born in 1950 and remember being at the old country store watching the old men (probably in their 30s & 40s) whittle on a chunk of cedar wood, drop knives and generally brag about whose was the sharpest. About 7 or 8 years ago a guy in my church brought me a Smoky Mt. Knife Works catalog and as they say the rest is history. I rounded up all the old knives I had in my sock drawer and started collecting. Now I don't know how many I have. Something over 200 I expect. Sometimes I think I'm not actually collecting but searching for that perfect one to carry. I enjoy them all and have old ones, new ones, junkers and a few pretty nice knives. How many is too many? Just wondered if anyone feels like they are adicted as I do. I think sometimes I need to be in KA, (knifes anonymous). My wife is very patient every time I get someting off Ebay or find another knife at a flea market that I just have to have. By the way, this weekend (Labor Day weekend) we have one of the largest gun show/flea markets in the country here in Hillsville, VA. I usually end up with one or two each year. There are around 300,000-500,000 people over four days. Ya'll come!

I'm going to be visiting my folks and inlaws in Roanoke this weekend. Guess I'll be taking a roadtrip to Hillsville :D

I went last year and one other time. It's quite an experience...

Too many knives? No dude you've lost me, don't understand that one! ;) I know I feel addicted at times, I just shelled out for a pretty expensive marbles slipjoint, days later i am searching online stores and "oooohh that looks nice and that one too would help round my collection etc etc"
My wife too is very patient and understanding about the sicknees which affects us.

Russell,
It truly is a sickness ! I started out with two Case Trappers (full size and a mini) and at last count I have over 100 Case Trappers.

Good Collecting !

I honestly don't know how many knives I own.
So, there should be room for one more!
;)

Thanks for all the replys. It helps to know that I'm not alone. We still have three kids at home so the budget is limited but I still find the bargans now and then. In fact, I bought a nice little Kutmaster jack knife today for $5 and nice little lockback for my son for $2. Both need cleaning and oiling but are good users. I guess there is always room for one more. Thanks again.

As long as my wife doesn't notice just how many knives I DO have (I keep 'em scattered all-over the house), I'll never have TOO MANY...:D.:D.
