How many knives do you carry daily? I'm talking about a normal work day for normal tasks not going on a 15 mile hike up k2.

Do you just carry one or do you have a backup? Or maybe you have a backup for your backup and carry 3?

I find myself carrying more than one typically and was curious if anyone else does? If so where do you generally keep them on your person?

I only carry one, it'll be in my left pocket if it's a pocket clip knife, or on my belt if it's a larger folding knife with a belt pouch.

In certain situations such as airports, I carry them in my butt crack.

I'm a one knife guy 99% of the time. During hunting season I carry one fixed blade and a multi-tool.

That's extremely descriptive. Thanks for the visual! ;)

Not counting Leatherman tools, four.

Mine are all small and have different purposes, though, so I don't think it's particularly excessive.

1. Boker KeyCom (1.5" blade, entire thing about the size of a USB thumb drive) - clipped to my right front pocket, with a small flashlight hanging from it. It has a very usefully shaped main clip point blade and is suitable to a number of quick little cutting chores.

2. Victorinox Alox Cadet. Just an ideal overall pocket tool kit. I use the other tools on it probably more often than the knife blade, due to the overlap with the Boker, but it does get used and keeps a very sharp edge.

3. In my bag, in an Altoids-tin mini first aid kit, a Victorinox Classic SD. Small blade, scissors, tweezers, toothpick. Essentially a minor first aid tool. I haven't used it in ages, but it's there nestled in along some bandaids, gauze pads, and adhesive tape just in case.

4. Also in my bag, in the bottom of one of the pockets, is a Case Slimline Trapper, stainless steel blade. This is my dedicated food prep knife, for those infrequent occasions when I need to cut up an apple, sandwich, whatever. It makes a great food slicer and takes up almost no room. Since I use it for nothing else, I never need to worry if it is gunked up with packing tape glue or dulled from cutting cardboard.

So there ya go. Four knives, four different purposes. All small, all non-threatening. Two in my pockets, two in a bag I carry to work. Some overlap, sure. But not enough to where any of them are especially redundant. If I gave up any one of them I would lose functionality that the others would not fully cover.

Always 2. Primary larger folder clipped to right pocket and a smaller folder, usually hidden in cargo pocket or clipped inside waistband.

One plus a Leatherman Micra. Some days I never need the knife , but the Micra always finds something to do.

One EDC in left pocket that I rotate occasionally. I don't normally carry a second one on my person, but I have a Leatherman Wingman in my backpack that goes to work and most other places with me - although except for work it sometimes stays in the car.

Minimum of 3. 1. Large Folder in front right pocket, Immediate threat knife in case where primary firearm is not accessible. 2. Medium to large folder, Location: Non weapon side front pocket, Immediate back up blade for weapon retention of primary firearm and defense blade in case strong hand is engaged in weapon retention or redirecting BG. 3. Medium to large folder at center line usually secreted behind waist line to allow for easy access from either Weapon or non weapon hand. 4. Off Body Medium to Large fixed blade in easy assess sheath to be used for utility in vehicle or on pack. 5. Small folder in left front pocket to act as money clip and utility blade. That's is my daily minimum. It goes up and changes daily as does my ccw carry if and when the daily threat assessment changes.

It must get pretty rough up there in Wisconsin!

I generally carry 3 knives. One of them doesn't really count though because I never use it. It's the blade in my Leatherman Micra. The second is a CRKT Cryo that I carry in the coin compartment of my wallet. I don't use it very often either. But if I'm in a hurry, I can just grab my wallet and know that I've always got a blade with me. The third is my go-to knife. I carry it unclipped in my LFP. I've got several knives I cycle through. It just depends on what floats my boat that particular day.
