How many knives do you carry?

This may sound stupid, but yesterday I did a little test to see just how many knives I can comfortably (and unoticably) carry. Well Sal will be proud because they were all Spyderco knives. I carried 9 and hardly noticed I had them on me. I like to wear big baggy shorts with lots cargo pockets. The ones I was wearing have 6 pockets in them. I carried my Spyderco Military plain edge clipped to my right front pocket and my carbon fiber Cricket in my pocket. I carried my Khalsa plain edge clipped in my right front cargo pocket and carried my G Saki Firefly keyring down in the cargo pocket. Next I clipped my large Dyad to my left front pocket and put my aluminum Cricket as a money clip down in that pocket. Then I clipped my aluminum Police to my bottom left cargo pocket. Now for the back pockets, I placed my green handled serrated Endura in my right rear pocket and then placed my Matriarch in my left rear pocket. I was comfortable the whole time I carried them and hardly new I had them. I am going to try to carry more tonight. How many have you carried?

The most I've done is 4 and I thought I was overdoing it. Obviously not. I'll be interested in hearing what your record is for carrying. Now here's a question: When the cop stops you and says, "Why are you carrying 9 knives?" your answer would be?

By the way, I don't see a problem here.

My normal carry is 3: Native right front clipped, Calypso Jr Ltwt left front and Navigator IWB. If I go for a 4th, it's an Endura.

I carry two. On my right pocket (inside) I carry my Merlin. In my left pocket (also inside) I carry an Endura clone.

Nine!

LOL Sounds like that movie "Edward Spyderhands"

Lum in place of Honor
Native II left pocket
Leatherman Wave on Duty Belt
Gerber river Knife in boot
CRKT Bear Claw 'round neck

I've been going with seven recently. That's a CRKT M16 03 in my right front pocket, CRKT PECK clipped to my watch pocket, Buck Prince in my right pocket with my wallet, Leatherman Micra on a carabener clip with my keys, a SAK and Old Timer mini stockman in my left pocket, and last but no least, serrated Delica in my rear right pocket. I was just thinking of it today and realized that all told I was carrying about $215 worth of steel in or on my pockets.

I guess it seems a bit excessive and redundant, but hey, it's what I like to carry. The M16 is good for just about anything, and the Delica can cut whatever the M16 can't. Then the Prince is just for good looks, the Micra for the scissors and little screwdrivers, SAK for big screwdrivers and can opener, Old Timer for fingernail trimming, and PECK just 'cause it's cool.

It seems that 4 is my usual number these days, and today by chance 3 of the 4 are Spydercos

1. Full size plain edge Wegner - Left hip Pocket

2. Wegner mouse, watch pocket

3. Ladybug clipped to a nylon cord around my neck

4. CRKT Peck money clip, right front pocket

Lets see - 3 Spydercos right now. BladeForums Native, Centofante Vesuvius prototype, and a CF Ladybug. Also a CRKT small size Navajo, a Microtech UDT, and a Leatherman Wave. 6 in all. Seven when I had my tie on earlier, with the Taiyo tieclip.

Well, lets see...So far the count had been from two, clear up to NINE!.

I think nine might be just a little bit too much...

.

I usually carry 3 myself, and I think THAT'S too many. (2 Spyderco's...A Stainless Native II, left front pocket, and a Stainless Endura II, right front pocket, and then there's my little Leatherman Micra in my key wallet...I guess that could be called a "knife"?).

(Sometimes I wear my Cold Steel Master Tanto [carried IWB], in place of my Endura II, when I'm feeling just a little "randy".

Jeez, do you guys all wear suspenders? What hapens when you have to go to the bathroom? Wait, please don't tell me.

If I'm at work I usually carry 2 - a Micra with my keys and a Spyderco in my rt. front pocket.

I carry up to five but usually three, well four if you include my Spydercard, an Endura, a Rookie and a SAK. I will also carry a Vaquero Grande or an XL Voyager clip point depending on where I am going that day.

Well, I didn't get out of the house with all the knives as planned last night. My wife asked me "What the hell do you think you are doing?" "You are going to get arrested at the mall if they catch you with all those knives in your pockets." I do plan on trying it out again though. I already had the following knives on me:
Bob Lum
Military w/black blade
Toad for money clip
Mouse
Ti black Delica
Ti black Endura
Renegade
Pink cricket (my wifes!)
Flat iron clipit
Viele
Carbon Fiber Cricket
Large Wayne Goddard

And yes I was worried about going to the rest room. My pants would have surely hit the floor. Anyway, I did get out of the house with my Bob Lum, Viele, Mouse, Toad, and Black Ti Delica without my wife noticing them, atleast until we got home.

James, you have some very nice blades there. Thanks for the pic. Wish I had a carbon fiber Ladybug in my collection.

I am fixing to invest some money in a nice pair of suspenders (I can hook more knives to them!)

Ps. If the cops had of stopped me I would have simply told them that I am a KNIFE NUT. What could they do then? Maybe Sal would come and post my bail since they all are Spyderco knives.

Thanks for all the comments. Keep em coming!

Well since today is sunday I'm carrying my "church" knife. So I have 6 cutting tools on me.

Every time this question comes up, I find that I've changed my carry option (usually due to new Spydies arriving)! These days, I can be found with a Matriarch in left/rear pocket, and Spyderench in right/front. Sometimes I substitute a Harpy G-10 for the Matriarch (just LOVE that Harpy!!!).

I own 9 spydies but carry only one. Mostly rotate them for different tasks.

If you search the blade discussion forum you'll find at least 10 discussion like that in the past year.

So that's what I did, and this is what I wrote not a month ago:

"...
That again?

There has been a zillion threads about this subject.

Some of them even have images of Spark's pocket contents (be careful - the image may take some time to load...)

Me?

One Dozier neck knife.

Any one of a few folders IWB (lg. dec. sebenza, spydie starmate, spydie shabaria Benchmade Emerson etc.)

One small folder in my motorcycle jacket (I have at least 8 jackets and I DON'T move them from pocket to pocket - they each have their own..

Super tool in bag, ladybug and Micra on key chain.

Almost forgot: a small SAK - best nail-job in the business...

Is that enough? I keep thinking of the perfect fixed blade to add to the list

On top of that:

Para Ordnance P-14 on person with one extra magazine in bag.
One Scorpio streamlight in bag.
One lansky pocket sharpener in bag.
One Coghlans fire starter in bag.
One Yo- Yo ("it's only a toy - not a weapon, officer...")

Cell phone, palm pilot etc. etc. etc.

PS: I forgot the spydercard in my wallet and lately I have added a Nealy - Boker fixed blade in a horizontal belt carry...but only on weekends...
