I can only remember five; a cheapie Fury, an 806D2, a Kershaw JYD, a little M2 blade I made, & a Tramontina long handle cane knife.

I've also chipped edges in dozens, sprung several clips, and marred damn near every handle by dropping them. Anyone feel like sending me an art folder for a passaround? :D

I broke the Blade on a Case folder and a Buck 110. Both were fixed by the companies at no cost to me. Thumbs up to both of these manufacturers.

I broke a cheap USA made Scrade stabbing cardboard, a Gerber multi tool pliers head tring to cut a coat hanger, and a few cheap junk knives.

Playing around as a kid 10 or 12 at the time, cutting some string off a stick with blade toward me. Not Good Idea. Stab myself,:o then stomped on knife in anger until both blades broken. I think it was a Barlow. Hey give me a break, that was 50 years ago. :p

How did you break it? I have one of those...

The first time I used it I fixed a curtain rail to the wall and the Pozzy drive bit started to round off when I screwed in the fittings.
Shortly after this I took it on holiday and when my wife wanted a tin of beans opening I proudly pulled out my Leatherman and offered to do it....this was when the locking mechanism broke !!!!!
I hear their warranty is pretty good but I just took it back to the store and they gave me a credit note which I used to buy another Victorinox SAK !

I broke one of those Gerber made winchester skinners once.

I was batoning it tip down by striking the but. i gave it a hard whack that missed the pommel and struck the handle from the side. It torqued the knife and snapped about 1.5" of the tip off.

Cheap a knife as it is, it was holding up fine until i screwed up my technique.

i broke countless cheap knives back in the '70s and '80s, usually by throwing them lol. i got a USAF pilots survival knife in the late '60s, i thought i had something, it supposedly was gov't surplus, i was gonna use it to chop thru a 1" mesquite branch and on swing #2 it broke at the tang, it was some cheapo import not the real thing lol, i was only 12 or 13 i knew no better.

not much lately though, last fall saw my bud REALLY chip his ~10 yr old buck 110 skinning a deer, chipped it very badly on bone, about the size of half a nickle FWIW, wayyy too bad to just reprofile for sure lol.

my beloved Police ats-55 spyderco , a old fury folder , and old SAK (red handles broke off ) and a Sharade combat fixed blade i bought at the PX , dropped it and stuck in the wood floor while deployed and broke the tip right off ..

and a gerber multi-tool wrenched on something hard in the motor pool and would not close ever again .

I've never broken a knife. But I have broken some tips off Moras - that, however, does not take much.

Ive actually lost more than ive broken funnily enough :(

A while back I picked up a cheapish bowie and after droping it the tang snapped revealing some sort of fibre glass inside a hollow

About the only real knives Ive ever had trouble with are Opanels and thier hit'n'miss lock system. Usually the cuff comes off or the blade spine splinters the wooden handle from too much working pressure.

Ive moved onto space aged composite materials and havent had a single problem with knives since.
