How Many Knives?

OK, how many knives do you carry every day? I ask because I had a guy at work ask why I carry three (Vic Super Tinker, Spyderco Endura, and a Leatherman Wave). I told him that each tool fills a specific function, yada yada yada....

How do you handle the uninformed?

I carry four: a boot knife, a Leatherman Wave, a high-end tactical folder, and there's a small blade on my money clip. I've considered adding a neck knife and a large fixed blade in the car. I drive all over Kuwait everyday with nothing but a smile for protection and I've always believed in redundant systems.

I carry 5 or 6 "cutting tools":

Spyderco serrated (Massad) Ayoob, or a PE Chinook
Spyderco PE FRN Delica
Cold Steel Vaquero Grande (sometimes)
Leatherman Supertool
Leatherman Micra (mainly for the scissors)

2 or 3 folders - for quick access while seated, standing, ect.
1 fixed blade in the car
Sometimes a neck knife
1 very scary fixed blade in my briefcase (sometimes used as a sales tool)
1 field fixed blade

Life would be so much easier if it was legal to carry a gun around here. Maybe after a nuke goes off, I guess, (if I'm still here) we'll get some better state leadership.

OK, I'll probably be the anomaly here, but I just carry one at a time (except when hiking/camping). Of course, that one is usually a custom, WH, or Sebenza, but nevertheless only one knife. My days are usually pretty predictable, so I usually know what to anticipate in the way of knife usage.

I carry a minimum of 2, usually 3, and sometimes 4.

These days the line up is:

Spydie Native
SAK Trailmaster in Normark neck rig
Mora 2000

sometimes I also have one of the following:

SAK Tinker
CS Recon Tanto
CS Mini Bushman

Up until I came here (BF.com) I used to carry only one. Now I carry a couple extra. Usually my LCC/DA, a Chive, and a Camillus Arclite.

really depends on what im wearing since some pants accommodate knives better then others, so if im wearing shorts or warmups probably one lighter knife like a BM943 or spyderco lum, if im wearing khakis probably 2, maybe a eki commander or kershaw boa and something else

In my rt pocket I carry a Camillus yellowjacket whittler and a Case trapper with CV. Clipped to rt pocket either a Kershaw vapor2 or Cuda Max 5.5.
In my rt rear pocket I carry an old Spyderco endura, fully serrated with the clip broken off. Have had it for years and it just won't die.
Lt front pocket either a sak tinker or huntsman.
On my belt at all times is a Leatherman wave.
That's not toooo many is it???:D

I just sort of fill my pockets. When the jeans start riding too low, or the shirt and jacket start leaning to one side or the other, I take some out. Leaves 4 or 5 left. :) :) :) :) :)
Can you carry too many?

Oh, and found a way to meld a small neck knife to the back of my cell phone, that was a fun project.
Of course, the old snap inside the boot with corresponding snapper on the knife sheath is an oldie but goodie. Learned that one in the Marines 20 years ago.
Any one for garters??

Who thinks they have to many?

R/F: Spyderco Military, 50/50
L/F: Spyderco Merlin, PE
IWB: Spyderco Calypso Jr Lt, PE
R/Cargo: Wallet w/ Spydercard
L/Cargo: Keys w/ SwissTech Utilikey & Buck Minitool

Belt:
--Right: POS Multitool($20 in walmart)
--Center/Horizontal to left: (unknown maker) 4" Tanto, fixed
--L/F: either Spyderco Tufram Cricket(SE) or Native CE

Yep, thats 9 of them... 10 IF I have my neck knife or boot knife on...

At least two everyday regardless of the situation. I always carry a small Buck lockback, Prince model, in my left front pocket. In my right front pocket it tends to be a variety! For the past few days it is alternating betwen a Obenauf large model 2 with D2 and sand colored G-10 or a Tom Anderson Rhino. Both are very capable and up to hard use and are easy to carry. Have another Obenauf, large model 2 with 154CM and blue/black G-10 coming in next week.

I sometimes carry another knife in a horizontal belt sheath while at my part time job. Lately this has been a DKW Sand Shark.

My carry consists of:

Spyderco Military PE
Spyderco Blue Rescue SE
SOG TiNi Powerlock
Leatherman Micra
Spydercard 50/50 in wallet
Jester SE on keychain

I really don't make it known as to which, or how many, knives I carry to anyone, so I don't get any curious looks, remarks, etc.. Any sheeple that may ask, I quickly inform them that my EDCs are tools that I carry for any task that may arise. I am the type of person that likes to be prepared for just about any situation. ;)

If my EDCs "offend" anyone around me, I don't hesitate to tell them where they can go.... :p

at work i carry buck 560 with custom sheath by lifter, either swisschamp or leatherman PST and a case cocobolo whittler

off the job i carry a MT LUDT in custom sheath by leatherman, italian
stilleto in back right pocket and mother of pearl case whittler in right front pocket

I usually carry one per day either a large Buck/Strider
or an small Sebenza. :)

Just two most of the time. Sometimes three.

I always have some kind of multi-tool (leatherman/gerber) on me.
I use the multi-tool blade for the crapy knife jobs. Like scrapping, digging with the knife tip, etc....

Then one locking folder.

Today it was the gerber 600 scout and the buck lightning 170U red/black handle.

My current EDC's are

At work:
1. DDR Bullnose Maxx in one of Leathermans' sheaths
2. MT UDT
3. Swisstool X
4. MOD Tempest
5. BM 942
6. TOPS Sea Wolfe in my boot

At home (at least right now):
1. MT UDT
2. MT LCC D/A
3. ProTech TR1 in a Leatherman sheath
4. Swisstool X
5. BM 42 Bali

Usually two folders between the following:
CRKT C/K 3" PE
CRKT Lightfoot PE
Spyderco Endura 50/50
Spyderco Native PE
Spyderco Merlin PE
And then I'll have the Leatherman Juice CS4 which does have a blade on it, and I almost never use it unless all my knifes I had on me isn't terribly people friendly (like having the Endura 50/50 and the Merlin PE) and I have to use it around people.
Then I have a Ladybug because I want one and can use it for light cutting tasks in public.

When at work. . .4

Large fixed & large folder for utility carry and medium fixed & automatic folder for CQC.

When at home. . .1

Rarely carry fixed anymore. . .so my pocket carry is a 3 to 3.75" bladed folder.

:D

At work where there's a 4" limit:
1) Darrel Ralph Mini-Maxx
...the rest of my EDC are multi-tools...
2) Victorinox SwissChamp XLT
3) Leatherman Crunch
4) Leatherman Mini-Tool
5) Swiss-Tech Utili-key

Away from work I add:
6) Camillus CUDA Maxx

In the woods I add:
7) Bob Dozier Texas #6

Does that seem like too many? :D

I hope to add a Bob Dozier Companion to my basic carry soon.

Also, when away from work I carry an H&K P7 M8. Out in the woods I add a shortened Taurus Raging Bull in .44 Magnum.
