How many lock variations of the Sage will we see?

Just merely wondering how many different lock styles you think the Sage series will feature? I`m looking forward to them and all the different handle materials too.

The actual outcome will depend on sales, but the only one I really care about is the Mar/McBurnette mid-lock. Since, so far, the materials have reflected those associated with the lock's designer, am hoping they'll do that one with a long front bolster and wood scales.

I'm guessing we'll see several others as well. Much as I dislike it myself, I'd consider the compression lock a strong possibility. Sal mentioned they have Blackie Collin's permission to do one with his bolt action lock, so that's a definite possibility. Assuming Spyderco could get their blessing, AG Russell's "One Hand Knife" lock should fit and might be interesting. The Meerkat's phantom lock might also work, since Sal did say the only Spyderco lock they were not sure would fit is the ball lock. Heck, they might even build one with the new lock they're planning to convert the Military to. And, with more countries every day joining the "locking folders are evil" camp, I suppose we can't rule a SlipIt Sage out.

As usual, I think Deacon has said about all that could be said about possible variations:thumbup:

I will add that I think the current RIL will be the best of the bunch IMO...but then again I'm a huge RIL fan.
Mine should be here today.

The RIL Sage rocks, and I feel the need to pick up the original version too. :)

I'm interested in the Dozier Tab Lock, along with the back lock. Depending on sales, this should prove to be a very good set of knives.

I would like to see one with the Stud Lock, But I don't know how well that would work out with a company known for holes instead of studs. :)

A thumb stud on a Spydie...that would be sacrilege!:p

Although, I do really enjoy the stud lock, though it probably works best on a assisted knife IMO.
