And you will need more gear than a platoon of SEALS.

Okay Im home.
That was one hell of a trip to Blade. We had an awesome time. Both at the show and otherwise.
Thanks everyone who I had the chance to talk to along the way.
The Blade show was awesome! I hope we do the Badlands thing every year. It was, by far, the best time Ive had at a show. Usually I have to find time to see my pals. This time they were in the same booth.

So, back to work I go. Here’s what we’re up to…

Making SnG’s for half the planet. Thanks everyone for liking our gear.

Working on our collaboration with Surefire.

Making a knife for our pals at the Japanese Strider forums.

Lots of stuff…

Brain is tired.
More soon

Thanks again

Mick

YOU TRAVELED THAT FAR WITH A 4 MONTH OLD! You are the bravest man I've ever heard of:D My daughter is so bad in the car, we invested in a VCR/TV so she can watch her video's, just so we can drive to the store without a fit. The 300 miles to the inlaws is a drive into the inferno if you know what I meen. Your child must be better in the car, because you still seem to have the power of speech.

Oh, and is it just me or are childrens videos made specifically to drive parents completly insane? Barney's voice is like a red hot poker in the eye, and don't even get me started on the Teletubies!!!:barf:

I spent 9 days (`7000 miles) on the road with my 3 month old boy. I think it broke him. He's very good in the car now.

I've spent a lot of time with cracked out knot heads in the booking room after an arrest, with no problem, but five minutes in the car with my little one screaming, and I'm jello. Since the TV/VCR travelling has become possible again. Both of you are brave men!

My "ex's" brother has triplets. ANY "family" gathering involving transport of the 3 HorseChildren of the Apocolypse was absolute bedlam. I've been at the bottom of a ruck on the try line at the 79th minute of a tie match (obscure rugby reference) that was more peaceful & well-behaved. I wouldn't dream of harming a child, but was seriously considering killing myself at the end of a 10-mile ride to a restaurant for Mother's Day brunch. Couldn't bear the thought of the ride home.
I can't imagine a coast-to-coast trip w/ a screamer. A braver man than I.

I know what you mean Mick. My kids first trip to the Blade Show was at three months (Blade 2000). He mostly slept the whole time (except at the Strider table).

We missed last years show but did make the trip this year (as you know). The trip is about 4 hours...give or take. I had NO IDEA that there were so many tractors, motorcycles, "BIG TRUCKS", trailers, COWS (what's what all the FREAKING cow's anyway?!?!?), road signs, etc., between Atlanta and home.

A typical conversation went as follows:
Dada?
Yes?
Dada?
Yes son?
Dada?!
Yes son?!
DADA!!!
WHAT DO YOU WANT SON!!! (using the typical impatient father tone of voice)
(pause)...big truck...go zoom!!!
That's right son...big truck go zoom...
(pause)...Dada???
(the process repeats)...

add four non-stop hours of that coupled with being hit in the back of the head about every 20 minutes with his brand new STRIDER BT trainer (did I thank you for that one Mick? :) and you've the makings of a fun day).

God I love road trips...can't wait 'til next year. :D

Take care all,
Cecil

Having had five little ones, I can't even imagine that trip. I can tell you what comes next though.

You'll be driving on the freeway there one day, with the little one strapped securely in her seat, and floating across a brief moment of silence you'll hear, "Daddy, what's a f*cking a$$hole...?" My oldest son was about 7 before he learned that "goddam" wasn't really the first name for a Volkwagen. :)

Mick, you are quite the man. I could not drive to the Post Office with any of my three kids when they were four months old. Heck, a trip to the Grandparents was four hours of pure hell. They did not have the term "road rage" back then, but after ten minutes, I was raging, my wife was yelling at the way I was driving and all the kids did was cry and scream.

And driving faster did not make it any quieter.
Welcome home. Glad you made it back safely. Maybe you can teach Trace how to do it........Ira
