How many of you convex your folders?

I've got a new Mini-Grip in M4 on the way, and I've been tossing around the idea of hitting it with my belt sander, give it a convex edge. But I've always used a sharpmaker on my folders, and I'm kinda nervous. I do well with a belt sander on the bigger stuff, though. Anyone have any thoughts on convexing folders, specifically relating to M4? I'd like to really thin the edge out, as I've heard great things about M4 and how thin you can go with it.

I use a strop to maintain my edges, which convexes them eventually. I haven't reprofiled an edge to convex all in one go though.

i put convex edges on all kinds of knives including folders and they work out fine. if you want some help with convexing your folder pm me your number and i'll be glad to give you a call and help you out.

I convex most of mine on a belt grinder. The only blades I have trouble with are small secondary blades on some pocket knives. But I think this is operator error, not that it can't be done.

I convex the edge on all my knives, including folders. Generally on a belt sander. Go easy and you shouldn't have any problems. It's really no different than any other knife.

If you are wanting to thin the blade/edge and haven't done that before, you might want to practice on a couple old/cheap knives first. But really, it isn't hard to do either if you are confident with your ability on the belt sander.

Richard,
Thanks for the offer. I'll send you a PM in a bit.

Kevin,
I feel pretty good about my skill with bigger knives on my belt sander, but haven't tried anything smaller than about 4". Wait, that's not true. When I first got my sander, I rounded the tip of an Izula pretty bad. I learned my lesson, but I guess you could say I was scarred a bit by the incident.
