About six months ago, I started sleeping with my Al mar SERE 2000 clipped to the inside of my boxers. Now, along with my family's BIG rottweiler, numerous firearms, and alarm system, I feel totally secure in my home. My wife however, thinks the knife in the boxers is a bit too much.

Does anyone else out there sleep with a knife attatched to them? I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one...Am I?

To be honest, I DID clip knives to my underwear in the past, but usually only to circumvent security frisks at concerts etc.
I think a liner lock folder clipped to underwear during sleep could become a health problem. Humans move a lot during sleep, and a liner lock could easily open with one of the movements - ouch. Why not put it somewhere beside the bed, in grabbing reach?

A knife cliped to your underware? are you a sicko? :-) Only joking mate....I keep a knife on my bedside table and a bayonet hung on the wall above my bed....you never know when you might want to cut something in the night.
Your normal....when you like something it's just natural to want to take it to bed. :-)

Is that a Sifu in your shorts, or are you just happy to see me?

I dont sleep with my weapons every night but when i do get somthing new i play/carry it till i fall asleep. The little woman has some pichers of me in a western holster and my underwear.

Taking a knife to bed? Isn't that what neck knives are for? The only time I've made practical use of a neck knife is in my pjs because when I'm dressed I either have to carry it outside my clothing (in which case why not just carry a fixed blade in belt sheath), or can not quickly access it under my buttoned, and normally tucked-in shirt.

In my PJs though (and I have to wear them cause I've got lots of kids running around the house, my own and guests, so I can't go round in my undies or nekid as I used to

) my shirt is loose and I can carry that necker under the shirt and still have easy access to slice up an apple, or open a box, etc.

My kids friends are always amazed when they ask me to cut something and a knife appears in my hand from under my shirt. My own kids just roll their eyes at this point...

And yes, I have fallen asleep many times with that necker still in place.

I always have this one in my PJ pocket. It's a nice handfull of knife but lightweight.

And ocassionally I carry this one at night.

Also I have a photon with lanyard clipped to my t-shirt. Mainly I do it in case of earthquake, they ussually happen at night and in the confusion and panic that follows, it's nice to know that they are readily available.

I have guns, knives, rocket-launchers

I'm with the Glockman on the Original Equipment. Somehow I would guess the Glockman would have an Austrian-designed semi-auto nearby.

I have a Kimber Elite Carry in the bedroom nightstand with a Surefire and an extra mag of 230gr Hydrashoks. And my glasses and a big Maglite also.

Seriously.... a folder clipped to your boxers in anything short of a military situation? Me tinks dat B X-treme? Time for some anti-psychotic pharmaceuticals maybe?

Oh, that's nothing, I wear my D2 Ka Bar fixed blade around my neck. The Eagle sheath is great for this. A 7" fighting knife is cool

Sleeping with your prized possessions is NORMAL. I've fallen asleep (or was it passed out?) with 4 knives on me before... so... no, your OK.

Extreme? I thought that's what a .45 loaded w/ 230gr hydrashoks spelled. I do keep a knife by my bedside. A really cheap $4 folder I bought ages ago. the blade is only about 1" to 2", but if I need something cut, it cuts it, and if I needed to defend myself, it would be right there. If you were invaded, and had a loaded pistol by your bedside. There's a good chance that if the guy is in your room before you wake up, he's got the gun. And if you have a knife clipped to your underpants, well, in a high stress situation you may forcefully yank on something, that isn't supposed to be pulled that hard(you know what I'm talking about).

I think the best solution would be to keep a fairly large folder wedged between the bedframe/post and the bed(in a corner, so it stays there, but needn't be strapped or clipped). It would be easily and safely accessible, without the invader having quick access to it. He probably won't even be able to see it.

Spyderco Endura clipped to my boxers and my Kabar shoved between the mattresses with just the handle sticking out(perfect place to keep your hand at night) and my Khukri sitting by the nightstand. And that's when I'm traveling.

I'm with Matthew on the neck knife. Am not so sure it is that I really want to sleep with my Stiff KISS, so much as I just never think about removing it. Have been wearing it a year and a half or more.

I have a KaBar under the nightstand immediately next to my side of the bed, with a cloth draped to the floor so nothing is showing. I sometimes also keep a POS 7-8" bladed tanto shoved betwixt mattress and boxspring. It is remarkably sharp, or would have thrown it away long ago.

Also keep a shovel handle under the bed, and a 5' rattan pole a few feet away. Am gonna get either a sjambok or one of Livesay's wands to have handy as well. With 2 teenagers prowling about the house, have decided not to use firearms for that sort of scenario.

I realize "old habits die hard"

but, you're not trying to take down an army... three people is usually the most you'll encounter(not really a true statistic, but I would think it's kind of awkward to have more than three people in a house during a robbery..)

By the way, if you are ever planning to use your CAR15 or AK47 in a possible life or death situation, check the spring tension in the magazines. I've had bad/old magazines screw me out of the last few rounds(usually in pistols). It was never a big issue, because it was down at the plot of land where I target shoot, and not during a robbery.

Just MHO,
-Dennis
