and i don't mean for just opening envelopes. it seems the more and more i read i find people putting these great knives in display cases. thats ok i guess but, i use all the knives i buy because thats what they are made for. sometimes it takes me a little longer to use one but it ends up getting used.until i start spending upwards of $500 on some customs or numbered mt's and the sort i will continue using my bm's and mt's and anything else i buy. i see people putting mudt's and such in "quaranteen" and they are great user friendly knives! i know some mt's are quite expensive but i'm not talking about the ones over $500 but it seems that if you spend $200-$400 on a knife, using it gives you all the more pleasure, i know it does for me!

I too do not have the money to routinely buy something just to look at (although I AM getting closer!). There are just to many knives I want to buy and use.

It's only a mistake if you fail to learn from it!

Every day. I use a Mini-Socom M/A clip point. It's a real horse. I don't know how long it will hold an edge because I'm a Sharpmaker addict and touch it up every night.

I just can't help myself.

The only modification I've made from the factory was to remove the lanyard and replace it with a leather shoelace about four inches long. It gives the knife a more rustic look.

I use all of them!
I bet my HALO III is the most used and abused one there is! I have carried and used it every day since I received it in November. It has seen so much use the black coating is wearing off the flats from being opened like 30 times/day. It has been through the hood of a Pontiac Sunfire and today it went through a 55 gallon drum. (I mostly cut boxes and small wires, but that drum threatingly jumped out of nowhere !)
You guys need to use these knives to really appreciate them! Besides like someone else said... You can't take them with you so you might as well enjoy them!

Take Care,
Al

Hi I'm Elvis, and I'm a user....

Some people want to collect knives and keep them safe and at maximum value in boxes tucked away. Some people want to buy a knife and immediately cut stuff with it. It's just 2 different ways of getting the same satisfaction. It all boosts the knife industry, so everyone wins!

I use my L-UDT for opening mail and when I'm in public and I have some meat at a restaurant and the only knife I have it a butter knife I put my knife under the table and the only thing you hear is the distinctive snap and I bring it out cut my meat, clean the edge and put it up like nothing I did was wrong.

I'm 15 and I like using my knife when I'm NOT at school. I don't use it on HARD stuff like some pple at the forum do.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I do too. I am taking my Mini SOCOM M/A everywhere where a bigger knife would be a trouble.

Kris.

I have another question for those who use HALLO III and similar knives: How difficult it is to close them? I realize that they open fast, but is closing them as fast as opening??

I've got two MT SOCOMs (clip and tanto) and I USED to use them all the time for all kinds of stuff. But since I did a liner lock test and they both failed PATHETICALLY I'm not really comfortable carrying them anymore

There are only two types of people; those who understand this, and those who think they do.

David1967, the Halo III's are cake to close. It does require both hands. To close, the plunge button must be depressed to disengage the lock while the charging handle is pulled to retract the blade. This is very easy and quick to do. The more you break them in the faster they get. They are worth every cent!

I just bought my first Microtech a few weeks ago - Kestral A - and I don't even fire it. I Took it to work showed it to everyone took it home. Now it's top drawer stuff. I might carry it someday - but cut stuff with it? No way! How the heck would you sharpen it? But I have lots of knives that I'll never use. I take them out and fondle them. Put a little Triflow on them and put them away. I'll give to my kid someday and she can use and abuse them when I'm gone. C.

i have one like brians and i carry and use it often...along with a spydy terzurola (SP?) that way i dont have to use my salesman sample tom mayo knife and get it scratched...
