How many pictures may we post if we buy a membership?

That depends on the resolution of the pictures.
A pic might be 250 kB or it might be 3Mb, depending on the resolution.

A Gold membership is required to sell. With that comes 20 Mb of media storage.

But you can post pictures as a registered member by uploading them to a web hosting site. I currently use imgur. Once uploaded, copy the web address of the picture. Click on the picture tool (next to the smiley on the tool bar) and paste the address into the popup making sure that it ends in a picture file extension such as .jpg. Click OK and voila.
 
I can only post on forums that allow the direct upload of photos from my computer.

I post most of my photos in the manner that you describe. I haven't kept track but I sometimes post around 10 photos in a single sales thread in this same manner. Never got an overload message. My photos are 640 X 480.
 
Right after the switch to this new format I had a bunch of pics (20+) I wanted to share on my favorite sub forum and decided to see how many I could get in a post.
After the twenty first pic I got a message saying the max for a post was 20.
