How many Tilts were made of the DLC and the SW?

I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a LE 0560 or search for a Tilt. I think if I knew how the production numbers compared, that will help my decision.
What do you guys think, should I get a Tilt or a LE 0560? (price doesn't really matter very much, as long as it's under $350)

Thanks,

It's 205 for the DLC and 480 for the stonewashed Tilts.

Another thing to think about. S110V has been used in the Shallot years ago and in the future LE 0560CBCF. But also in the 0888. So if you are going for the steel. There are other options.

The Tilt will never be made again and it's the only factory folder with Vanax 75. My vote would be get the Tilt. There might be future LE 0560's, we never know.

Hi od

I would hunt down a tilt now since the le 560 might be in the future enough so you can save some cash.

No they are more...We haven't made any 0560CFCB's...:)

Haha! I guess you think your really clever.....don't you?

Thanks guys, I guess it looks like the general consensus is that I should go start looking for a Tilt....

How does Vanax 75 compare to s110v in terms of edge holding, ease of sharpening and general toughness?

- ease of sharpening, it hasn't been too bad for me with the sharpmaker. Its great because of its straight edge, it aids in the whole process. I actually prefer sharpening this compared to other steels that its compared to that I have used [m4/m390 the s90v in general had taken me a lot longer to try and get sharp after use - so good tip, better to touch it up a lot vs a letting it get dull + sharpening it at once ]

In terms of general hardness etc, I want to say like a super hardened H1 (note h1 regularly is very soft and doesn't quite hold an edge in comparison, was just including for the fact that vanax75 is so corrosion resistant and a hardened h1 [eg. serrated variants] hold exceptionally well] I would still consider a hardened H1 a couple notches/tiers lower, but holistically, I think vanax 75 could be considered a similar grouping, just a few tiers higher. [thinking pyramid and if vanax 75 is at top, hardened h1 a few levels below]

Now that, that is behind us. I would say its more like a softer s90v/ or m4 category. I have noticed a similar time length of use compared to the GB m4 steel, but the geometry and etc on the tilt is just exceptionally superb for slicing, dicing, cutting, decapitation [lol :p].
, figured that holistically it would better compare to a hardened h1], or say

I would say get the tilt! you wont be disappointed. And there is still time for the LE 560 [which I, as most everyone have to say its up there with the best of production knives imo its in my top 5 :p]. But I do see your dilemma, the 560/tilt/777 is a full course meal of goodness that kai/zt brought to the table this year [and beyond!]

-edit I know I didn't compare it to s110v, because imo, I think your jumping a level with that. Ofc with a high resistance whatever there are tradeoffs in getting that performance feature. but in case you had knives in those steels, it would give you an ideal comparison. At least those are from my personal experience. Just take it with a grain of salt =]

Get the Tilt, they are already hard to find/pricey and I can only predict the price will go up more due to low production numbers.

Hay now, you guys made at least one, right? I've only seen pictures, but it looks good.

Maybe what he's implying is if we let someone know how much we like them, maybe they will decide to built more than the original estimate of 1000, I think.

Just remember nothing is set in stone. (what if a millionaire needed 500 Tilts, Kershaw might be willing to oblige, money talks)

Hi od -

My DLC version takes a very nice edge - I have not done the super-polished edge, but I keep mine shaving sharp.

The knife has cut heavy cardboard, rubber hose with nylon reinforcement, and any of a number of miscellaneous materials over the time I have had the knife and it is holding it's edge very well.

I have not cut anything metallic, like copper wire etc, so I can't say if it might chip under those conditions, but be aware - the Tilt has the most beautiful, dare I say sexy, distal taper and the edge is very thin, the tip of the blade very pointy.

This is a slicing, cutting knife and not one made for heavy duty chopping "stab a fridge" use.

The steel is rare enough to satisfy the steel snob in me, and the knife is useful and downright cool enough to make it one I don't want to put away.

That was my DLC Tilt in my Blade pictures with the new ZT Protos.

Again, I will remind you that the Limited Edition knives from Kershaw/ZT are not cash cows for the company, and as such they are not a priority in terms of production schedules etc. That is to say - don't expect to see any of the three Protos from Blade for sale at any of your favorite outlets in the next 6 months - and maybe even not the next year.

It took a full year for my Tilt to arrive after first being premiered at Blade in 2011.

It took almost a year for my Hinderer ZT 0551 to become reality after being previewed.

It has taken over a year for the ZT0777 to be produced, and the wait just makes it all the sweeter when they show up.

Find a Tilt - use it, love it and save your cash for the next of the LE's - which will be here before you know it.

best

My Tilt! SW is fine - really like it. Sadly, I like the 561 even more. Sadder still, I like the 551 the most! I even have a spare 551! Yeah, I'm weird...
