Well, I just turned 48 and it's a a pain to get up once or twice during the night to urinate. Tell me that's normal and it won't get worse.

FFS, go see a doctor if it's worrying you.

Well, I just don't know what to tell a youngster like you.:D

Yeah, it may get worse — I find myself getting up three or four times a night — or it may not. My advise is to take Planterz' advise, and see a doctor. It could indicate a real problem, or it may just be something to live with as you get older: see a doctor and find out.

Welcome to the "All Nighter" club. We call it an "All Nighter" when we sleep through the whole night without having to get up. I think I pulled an All Nighter recently but I don't really remember. Your short term memory will be the next thing to go. What were we talking about anyway?

It does get worse...As you get older, you won't bother getting out of bed to pee... .:D.

I always get a kick out of the advertisement for some medication on a TV ad that lists as a problem: " Do you wake up to urinate?" I thought that was the preferred alternative!

Well, I'm 63 and I cut out drinking any beer after 6pm and I've been sleeping through the night without having to get up to urinate. Seiously though you should let the doc check you out.

My doctor says it's part of aging. I do have regular labs for my cholestrol meds and I have asked my doctor if he has any concerns about me heading towards diabetes and he says no. My dad passed when I was 22 so I can't ask him.

Damn beer,I'm usually fine unless I've had a couple.:D

I had a bad habit of drinking water while reading in bed right before I tried to sleep. I usually got up once or twice a night. I now stop drinking most liquids two hours before bed and I sleep thru the night now. Check out your drinking schedule too.

You've taken care of the major item.....checked with your doc.

And yeah, it is normal.
And yeah, it will get worse. However, I'm not a good judge of this. I'm a terrrilbe insomniac which confuses things a bit. When I'm frustratingly trying to get to sleep seems like almost any bladder pressure at all sends me to the BR.
My sympathy, I lost my dad when I was 20. Aside from the loss of the person, the loss of the education and information he could have passed on really sucks. I'd finally reached the age when I might have actually listened to what he had to say!

For some reason, this is giving me a mental picture I don't want and can't seem to get out of my head...thanks! :D

That's life. In my 40's I got up several times a night to use the loo, and then go to the kitchen to drink a glass of water to quench my thirst and avoid constipation. Now in my 50's its worse.

However, if there is pain in urinating, then don't put it off see the doctor now. It could be a urinary infection, or something else may be going on.

It is not so bad when you sleep in a nice warm house. But is has become a real hassle on those cold weather campouts. I find that the first morning topic of conversation on our campouts is the guys bragging that they were able to make it all night. - I hate them.
My doctor said that the cause of this was 'birthdays'. He is like 25 years old - I hate him too.
:D
