I understand that there are a few companies in US that have their knives made under licence in China or Taiwan.

If that is true, how many knife companies actually do that?

True. U.S. based companies like CRKT, Outdoor Edge, Timberline, Tigersharp have most of their knives made in Taiwan. Gerber and Buck have some knives made there as well and the blades have the Taiwan stamp on them, but I'm willing to bet that many others may have knife "parts" made in China or Taiwan.

We're the land of capitalism and the quest for profit, but I have to wonder who's economy I'm really supporting when I buy from an American-based company who manufactures overseas.

It still may be that some companies' premiere models are manufactured domestically, but it would seem that more and more companies are going the oversea-manuf. route.

I'd love to see the switch back to primarily American-made models from these companies, and hopefully one day we will.

Professor.
