Heya peoples,

I'm resting for the day with some stomach issues, and to entertain myself I thought I'd try coming up with goodies and items that people can find a variety of uses for! I'm going to issue a CHALLENGE..no, no prize..sorry :D, but a chance to share your knowledge and learn from others. Challenge is list out EDC items that you can find atleast TEN feasible uses! Yes, TEN..not the usual three but TEN! Hehe..that outta up the bar a lil' bit. My grandfather trained me since I could walk, and after he passed I continued on my own. Let's share a bit o' the old wisdom, hmm? This can range from stuff found in the woods, to rubbish, to ED house products (napkins, batteries, tissues, cotton swabs, cans, soda cans, bags, tooth paste--you name it.) Better if it's an item you may regularly carry (such as a packof tissues or a wristwatch, a wallet or the like). I will start us off.. It should prove difficult enough..:D

Pack o' tissues -- These can be useful for:Hygiene (don't wanna elaborate lol.) When dampened or coated with aloe, make a good burn compress. When coated with antiseptic ointment, makes a good wound compress. Can be used to make a fairly effective filter (will atleast keep out sediment, bugs, and heavier particles--better than nothing.) Tinder, of course. Boot packing (I've used this to keep my heel from rubbing.) Keeping cool (if you don't have a bandana, a tissue can be soaked and placed around the neck to cool the blood flow to the brain.) Moisture wicking (cram a couple in your pack, helps to absorb moisture, much the same as putting beans in a salt shaker.) Removing debris from the eye or a cut (better than dirty fingers.) Wrapping (a piece of fruit, etc.)

Hehe, let's see what you all can come up with. I can think of quite a few, how about you?

I carry burts bees hand salve, so I'll try to list the possible uses off the top of my head...
1. dried out hands, lips, and feet, and to the nose during cold-flu season
2. fire- fuel when added to a wick material, cloth, paper, whatever
3. water proofing, can either be used to seal small gaps in a light-duty setting, such as a small container. Or to saturate leather or cloth to provide some water resistance. also filling battery compartments.
4. lubricant, I've used it on the o-ring of my fire piston, which needs lubing every few uses, also could be used on a flashlight with a sticking seal, or a tight knife pivot
5. possibly as a barrier cream when handling some chemicals or dyes
6. mustache or beard wax, if you need to blend in with some steam-punk types
7. mixed with found grit to make an improvised grinding compound
8. Protectant for small wounds, and could have other things such as herbs added to make a medicated ointment (I did that once with some crushed benadryl, not sure how well it worked though)
Thats all I got so far, I'll keep thinking
