How many?

Not getting nosey here but be honest? How many of you know how many knives that you own. I will go first, I don,t have a clue and could not guess with 50 or so. I sterted with Saks and just got in deeper and deeper.
 
I really don't have an exact number either, but I would guess more than 50 and less than 100.

I really have no idea. I've got some stashed in kits and got them in places where I use them. For instance, my BK9 stays in the garage hanging up for use outside, my slippies stay in a box in my closet, my tactical folders are normally somewhere between the kitchen cabinet with my keys and my dresser. It's getting harder now because my oldest is now two and can reach the counters so I've got to put them in a place he can't reach them which means I sometimes forget where they are :) My EDC knives are always in the same place though.

I'd have to guess I'm somewhere around 40 - if you count my kitchen knife collection I'm closer to 65.
 
I've got to have over 200. Current good knives, at least a hundred. Current in use from time to time, maybe 50.

Obviously these are very approximate numbers.
 
Not counting the knives I've given my boys, around 15. I've sold half my collection. I keep it under 20. This only counting fixed, however.

Do you log location as well? Actually not a bad idea.
 
I have no idea. I consider myself a user not a collector and I have a bunch of users. I'm not sure how many of John's knives I own, but do know I need another.

Hi myright -

Ha! I know - I am a propeller-head by trade. At least I did not create a MySQL database for it....

I keep the following items for each knife:
DATE,BRAND,MODEL,PATTERN ,YEAR MADE,COUNTRY OF ORIGIN,HANDLE MATERIAL,#BLADES,BLADE TYPE,STEEL,LENGTH,SERIAL,COST,PURCHASE TYPE,PURCHASED FROM,COMMENT

It is nice (or scary) to see how much I have spent. It is also good to be able to remember how much you paid for one when you sell one (like I will ever sell one....)

John has me beat.... Jim.. I would have to guess I'm pretty close to you. I'd guess close to 50.
