How much better?

I'm looking at buying a Delica and noticed they come in both vg10 and ZDP. The priced difference between the two is quite a bit. Does ZDP hold an edge a lot longer? If so, do you think it justifies spending the extra money?

Thanks.

Holds an edge a lot longer than VG-10.

Also, does anyone have the "British racing green" color? It looks dark in the photos but it's kinda hard to tell. Does the color almost look black or is it a lighter green?

Thanks.

The color is a medium to dark green, nowhere near black.

I have the ZDP With The Green and in certain light it looks black but other wise just a dark green. And the ZDP hold a real good edge, but ive never owned a VG-10 so I cant compare.

I have a delica and endura in vg-10 and its a great all around steel. I think the fact that you have so many handle options makes the vg-10 more attractive as an option. I do have a dragonfly in zdp-189, its nice steel, but harder to sharpen. The handle color on my dragonfly (british racing green) is about the color of a green lawn leafbag (very dark). From any distance other than right on top of it and in good lighting can you tell its a green handle.

It's sort of a dark blueish green. ZDP-189 is good stuff and I love that Spyderco put it on a basic EDC design rather than a fancy "boutique" model. It's a very nice steel and does hold an edge much longer than VG-10 (which is no slouch!) :)

Nope. Just the green. But if you're good at tinkering you can swap out the scales with those of a regular Delica.

$3-$4 and 45min in black rit powder dye should solve your handle problem.

i felt the same way about the bm 755 mpr :)
