How much do I tighten?

Ok I bought a used EMC and took it apart to clean it. So how tight do I tighten the bolt that holds the blade. Where I have it now I like the way it feels to open by hand or using the wave. I feel no play in the blade but the screw can be turned with my finger nail. If I tighten it more it seems like it would be harder to open especially when using the wave?

Thanks

I usually have mine at about 9 o'clock. Blade is close to the center. But it is a little harder to open. I don't understand why my EMC blade wont stay centered and be smooth as butter.

I keep all my EKIs "thumb pad tight" once there broken in.

I just put my thumb on the pivot and turn it untill it feels about right, Iv never had a pivot fully back out on me, only loosen a bit.

When the knife is new you always need to play with it for a week or so to find that sweet spot but after that keeping it thumb tight has always been fine for me.

haze is correct, it varies from knife to knife & ya just have to find the right place for yours,

I finally got my mini-cqc7 working well. Was my mistake all along. I was using the wrong lubricant. It was a spray, with graphite in it or something...was good stuff but it would quickly stop lubricating. Like 5 min after applied.

I finally went to a bike shop and got some lube - it's a synthetic blend with teflon (Park Tools USA makes it, labeld CL-1 for chain lube).

Anyway, now the knife opens/closes beautifully and the lube continues working.

For the tightness - no blade play when open, when closed - a nice tap of my thumb can't make it hit the either side of the liner.
