How much do you have invested in your Bug Out Bag?

Title says it all. I've been slowly putting together my bug out bag / bail out bag / urban survival bag / etc. and I'm looking at quite a bit of cash going into it. Just wondering how much everyone else is putting into theirs.

If you don't count guns probably about 500 dollars. My "bag" is also an internal frame pack. Never know when you aren't going to be able to bug out in the suburban. What sort of stuff do you guys have in yours?

I've got three. One in my immediate area and two others at different locales. I'd say $1000 a piece without the firearms and ammo but $500 of that is cash stashed with it.

I'm sensing a trend here...(except for dayuhan who threw it all off  :p ). So if that's without weapons/ammo, what's the most expensive thing in your bag(s)?

Even if you took out my gun and ammunition, my B.O.B. would still contain a couple of thousand dollars worth of equipment. In this day and age, it's not just about mere survival, but also connectivity and communications. I also have a small laptop with wireless internet connection, and several cell phones. That along with a couple of higher end LED lights brings the total money invested up over two thousand.

Zero degree sleeping bag cost: 200 dollars. It sounds like our bug out bags may be addressing very different concerns. What sorts of scenarios are you prepared for?

Hey, sorry bruddah! What can I say, the kala might come in handy for bribes, more gear etc.

No worries, brah--just messin' wit ya ;)

Triton--fortunately there's no need for my BOB to have a zero degree sleeping bag (unless someone locks me in a freezer :p ). As for the scenario I'm going for--it's kind of to prepare for anything that comes up. That is, if a hurricane hits and I need to bail, I want something that'll take care of business for me. Also, since mine will stay in my car (though I'm working on one for the house too), I wanted something that would prepare me for any kind of accident (mine or otherwise) or emergency that I may run into--so a First Aid kit will be a big part of that. No matter how unlikely the event--I'd just like to be prepared for it.

I only have $400 in my B.O.B., and the most expensive item in the bag is one of my Springfield Mil-Spec 1911's. I have thought of replacing it with my G17 and a few Hi Caps. The Glock and the 9mm ammo would be quite a bit lighter than my .45.
